I lived in Dallas 30+ years and lived in Austin during college and somehow eventually moved to Houston.

Dallas and Houston are exactly the same in a lot of ways. The cost of living, pay rates. traffic, night life, sports entertainment, museums, theaters etc. The only real difference is the weather. Dallas has the four seasons and Houston has Summer and spring. Houston is very hot and humid

If you can , I would really urge you to stay in Austin. It was my personal favorite. But like most after graduation I was unable to find a job there.

both of them are really cool, but of course I am going to say Houston because I am born and raised here. I love Houston's night life, and cost of living is not expensive at all. I recently purchased a brand new home from the ground at 2100 square feet for just $125,000. Before that I stayed in a apartment that was 900 square and I only paid 700 a month. I love Houston!

I just moved to Dallas from Houston a month ago. I love it. It is more expensive. Traffic is worse in Dallas. Weather is better in Dallas. Nightlife is pretty similar.

I would pick Houston but where you are (Austin) is pretty nice also...

I'm the man!
I'd vie for Houston over Dallas. The cities are very similar, except Dallas is more pretentious and Houston is more humid.

Although, I must say, Tarrant County (Fort Worth/Arlington), next to Dallas, is a very nice and mostly unpretentious place.

houston is much better. i think dallas is really boring. houston is also a good place to go because your'e never bored and the cost of living there is very cheap too!

houston is bigger but dallas seems cleaner.

in houston, more of a nightlife.

Dallas is more trendy and is one of the fashion centers in the U.S.

Dallas has the most restaurants per capita than any other city in the nation.

Houston's housing is about the same as Dallas and has a better performing arts center but Dallas has a better nightlife, better public transportation and is more urban.

Yes, I would consider Austin to be the best city in Texas but I think you would like Dallas and Austin more than Houston.

...I'm not from Texas Darlin...but I am from Minnesota reasonably. Hah!!!....I have to sorta laugh a little bit really...my ex-gf's brother's whole family comes from Austin.....YIKES!!! Not to be alarmed though sweetie. I still hold high regards for my ex. She won't be with me anymore anyways...so no worries. It's just coincidence that made me laugh out loud anyways! I'd pick Dallas/Fort worth area darling. More oil money then you can shake a stick at reasonably...wouldn't you agree? What kind of work are you looking for anyways? Do you have any special talents you can share with me?.......Minnesota's not too bad to live really...so long as you enjoy some ice and snow in the winter (snuggling weather really) ...let me know...OK? Until then...Scotty

I think Dallas is more pretentious. Other than that, the weather has been covered, so they're about the same.

I think partying and the night life should NOT be your primary concern when thinking about where to live. Affordable housing, access to services, access to jobs that afford your best opportunities should come first. Of course I haven't been a twenty-something since the 80s.

Dallas is slightly more expensive for housing, though.

Dallas is better. Houston is boring, and the people can't seem to figure out how to drive.
