He's scum, has always been scum, and always will be scum. First he steals taxpayer money to buy a shiny new Navigator, then he covers up the murder of a stripper leaving his house, now he's been busted lying on the stand. His new spin, he's saying this issue was a long time ago and he and his wife worked it out, whooptie dooo! I didn't know his wife had the ability to grant immunity. To help cover up his infidelity he fired reputable and moral detectives, something which, let's face it, Detroit needs almost more than any other major city in the nation. On his watch Detroit has done nothing but further degrade into the laughable toilet it is today. Why do detroiters want him back, do I need to say it? OK, he's Black, there I said it. I'm not racist I just can't see a real reason this scumbag keeps getting re-elected. The only other thing I can think of is that a city of criminals wants criminals to lead them. Detroit's even a bigger laughing stock today, thanks to Mr. Kilpatrick, and this time he can't dance his way around the facts. Detroit's dying, there's no denying it. Anyone who makes money in Detroit doesn't live there, and for good reason.

Certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed - tool though he may be. He is, however, the teflon mayor and this one will probably not stick as well. My guess is that woman is going under the bus though for having the officers fired.

Wake up America. Your tax dollars pour into the city and help to pay the $9 million to the cops that won the case AND Kwame's legal fees AND the hotel bills so that he could screw his Chief of Staff.

Willie Survive - How do you know non-residents are all the ones that want to "down" the lying, stealing, cheating and maybe murdering mayor. I live in Det. and many of my friends do and they all think like normal humans and agree he's a POS. Also, everyone should care what our elected official do. Detroit affects the metro area and the metro area affect Det. Are you foolish enough to think otherwise? Also, because other do this does not make it better they all should suffer the penalty for there actions.

Elise080 - It's not the cheating as much as the lying and stealing, mis-management... Also, cheating on ones spouse is deceptive and hurts others including children. Maybe you think screwing around is OK - I don't. If the mayor stated before he was elected that he would have no problem cheating on his family and lying about it under oath and he was still elected then I'd say you argument was OK. Now it's coming out that his cheating was on Detroit tax payers dime? That's just what I figured. That's why personal corruptness shouldn't be tolerated. That's what happens when cheaters are in office, lying and stealing go hand in hand so often.

This is exactly what is wrong with this country - having an affair is not a crime, and NO ONE has the right to make moral judgments on other people! This is exactly why this country is a country of hypocrites, it was originally founded by so-called Christians, who diligently read the bible and believed in their savior, who said fairly clearly "let he who has not sinned cast the first stone" yet the issue of his infidelity, a personal choice, has become an issue! And, like a fool, a typical American fool, he lied about it on the stand. Getting someone fired over it is wrong, lying on the stand is wrong, misappropriating government funds is wrong - cheating is a subjective choice that he has made that has nothing to do with his position in office or his public title. WHO CARES? I don't care if he decided to have an open relationship with his wife and joined a swingers club! Its wrong that he lied and tried to cover it up, but to ask him the question on whether he was cheating is MORALLY wrong. Who my president, or mayor, or dentist choses to have sex with is none of my business. If I was him, instead of doing this massive cover up, the minute the question came up, my very first answer would be "Yes, I have been f*cking other women, and what are you going to do about it? What business is it of yours? My children, my wife? Well, until you decided to make my personal affairs public, my children usually did not get to hear about my sex life, but now they have. I really take my time and try not to orgasm as I am making major policy decisions, so I assure you there is nothing to worry about. My wife lives with me, so since I have sex with her instead of the entire city of Detroit, I am probably a better judge of what I should or shouldn't be doing while in a relationship with her."

As a former Detroit who now resides in the Atlanta are, all I can say is, if he was the Mayor of Atlanta he would have been recalled out of office a long time ago for his corruption, his lies, and his spending of taxpayer dollars for himself that is suppose to help the city.

A former Mayor of Atlanta Bill Campbell who served 1994 to 2002 was recently conceived of tax invasion, political corruption, and bribery and was sent to prison for 30 months starting in 2006.

What Campbell did sounded exactly like Coleman Young and Kwame Kilpatrick all rounded up into one case. Both Young and Kilpatrick are both corrupt, have done bribery, and both lied to the citizens of Detroit.

For Campbell, what he did was wrong and not is serving his punishment. As for Young, he got away with his crimes and he not once served one day in prison. As for Kilpatrick, what he has done is wrong but he will get away because Detroit is too corrupt to face the truth and the sad part is that he is going to get away with his crimes and keep getting reelected over and over time and time again.

Why am I mentioning Atlanta. Because in Atlanta, they do not stand for political corruption and crooked politicians while Detroit Does.

It is amazing to me that the most people who want to "down" Mayor Kilpatrick are non residents of the city of Detroit. Yes, he has messed up and the biggest reason is the " King of Detroit" mentality. With great power comes great responsibility, with that being said, when you have power you can't abuse it and walk all over people and expect it not to catch up with you. This happens to be the case with the Mayor. In the end he will get what he deserves. Is he a piece of crap because he cheated on his wife or because he lied about it in court? Name me one politician who does not lie let alone committed adultery? One last statement, if you don't live in Detroit WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?

Yes, he is, but what is ironic that he keeps getting voted back as mayor, and i will compare this to the rest of the state, why in the hell did we reelect grahmholm, another words, the same dumb asses who talk all that mess about him are the same people who voted him back in, and the same dumb people who voted grahmholm back in, the only difference between the two, different genders, different race, and one is better at covering their tracks

Not only was he having an affair, but he lied under oath about that. He actually committed perjury because there was a trial specifically to find out if he was having an affair with his chief of staff. He said he was not having an affair.
