New Hampshire has the White Mountains to admire and ski
the flume I believe is closed in the winter
The Tahquanemon Falls in Michigan are specular to see in the winter
they both have beautiful Winter scenery to admire .. keep eyes open to the possibilities
hard to compare a city to a whole State |

The best way to determine which place you would like to visit would be requesting some travel brochures. Then you can determine what events, activities and points of interest appeal to you.
Here are some links: |

I would think New Hampshire. I've lived near Detroit before, and in the winter...it's just another big city. |

I lived in NH for many years.
NH has everything you want to do in winter: skiing, tax-free shopping, charming downtowns.
Check out Laconia, NH or Hanover, NH.
Hanover is the home of Dartmouth Univeristy and on the border of Quechee, Vermont and it's ski resort is called Mount Sunapee - which is a great mountain. You can also hop over to some great Vermont resorts from there.
Laconia, Lincoln or Waterville Valley are all pretty close and have lots of mountains.
Boston is within driving distance and so is Salem, MA where the witches were.
Take Route 1 down from Kennebunke, ME (where the Bush's live) down to Portsmouth, NH down to Rockport/Marblehead down to Boston for the scenic coastal drive. |

I say New Hampshire over the city of Detroit.
the reason why
New Hampshire more snow , and mountains.
Michigan has no mountains.
The ski areas here in the Detroit area are OK but not that great, The only fun winter actives most of us Michigander do are ice fishing on the lakes, and snowmobiling and You would have to drive up north to Lake Superior to climb around the ice craves ( waves frozen on the lake) Most of these actives you have to drive out the city to do,
where in New Hampshire you can go anywhere in any direction to find a winter activity. |

New Hampshire at this time of year has mountains to ski on and is a pretty state. The roads are cleared of snow pretty fast because they make most of their money from tourist.
I don't know any thing about Detroit, but if I had my choice I would do NH. I'd be afraid of the city of Detroit. |

I am a huge fan of Detroit. We are moving because my husband's work is pulling out of the state. Detroit is like the friend you have that isn't the smartest, prettiest, or the best in school but always does her best to be there. Detroit is like that full of heart. Theaters, clubs, sking, shopping, sports we have it all. |

Vermont: Quaint country inns, great skiing, friendly people
Detroit: Urban decay, snow but no skiing, crime, crime, and more crime.
The choice seems obvious to me. |
