For DisneyWorld:
If your dad is in the army, you can get quite the discount and stay at a really nice resort exclusively for those in the military and their families. The resort is called "Shades of Green" and was made just for people like you!
Also, there are value resorts which start at $82/night and have really fun theming, such as movies, sports, music or pop century.
Base tickets are the cheapest and allow you one park per day. From there you can add options like park hopper, water park and more credits, and no experation.
Water park and more credits allow you to visit Disney's two water parks, typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach. But are only good if you are going during a warm time of year! The credits also allow access to DisneyQuest (huge indoor interactive arcade type place), Pleasure Island (Nightlife Entertainment for those of appropriate age), and Disney's wide world of sports (You'll have to check their calendar for dates of sporting events).
The Disney Dining Plan (DDP) is a great way to save money on food. The basic package gets you 1 counter service meal, one snack, and one table service meal per day, per person. This is only available if you book a package with Disney. In other words, if you stay off-site, you cannot get the DDP. If you go during Aug - Sept, you can usually get the Free Dining Plan Promotion, which that have been doing each year.
For example, on www.disneyworld.com I priced out a vacation for two adults, staying at All Star Sports, for 9 days/8 nights during the Free Dining promotion, with a 9 day park hopper and water park and more option, plus I added airfare from a random west coast city (since that would probably be most expensive) and including vacation insurance: GRAND TOTAL - $2,205 |

Pricing depends on when you go, where you stay, and the kind of package you buy.
You should check out some different websites:
www.waltdisneyworld.com
www.allears.net
www.mousesavers.com
www.expedia.com
Disney Value Hotels are not too pricey ($80-$150 a night--sometimes cheaper). You can also stay off property, although I wouldn't (you won't get the Disney perks).
Park tickets can be as low as $30 a day per person. If you buy a park hopper ticket the price can be about $340 for 7 days, including water parks & more per person.
There are ways to get the cost down--look for a deal through the websites. Mousesavers.com has a freebie section for saving money.
If he is coming home soon, and you can go between Aug. 24-Sept. 20th you can take advantage of the free dining plan offer.
Whenever I go I play around on expedia until I get the perfect deal. Good Luck!
EDIT:
Today I realized that I completely forgot about Shades of Green. Active and retired military can stay at this military Disney hotel. Check out the prices. It may end up being more than a value resort, but it is worth the look. The prices here depend on rank and years of service. In recent years they have remodeled this resort and it looks pretty nice. |

I would get a quote from http://www.vacationsnbeyond.com, it depends on certain options, like Hotels you want to stay at, etc. I would recommend to stay on site at one of the moderate hotels if you want to go to Disney World and for sure look into both Dining Plans well worth it especially the Deluxe, only complaint on the deluxe plan is they give you to much food. |

A trip to Disney isn't cheap, but your dad and your family will likely be eligible for some discounts. Check out these websites for details about military discounts:

for a package, it is about $1600 for staying at a value resort and getting tickets. If you want to make this even more affordable, go camping. Their campground is part of the resort, get the same resort benefits, and you can bring your own food and this makes it so much cheaper. We have 4 kids and we went for 5 days with the whole family, camped and spent $1300, this was including our drive there. Also, you can keep 10 people on your site so if you can split the cost of the $50 a night on the site, then you can get down to your accomodations being even cheaper. I would look into it because they have heated pools and a restaurant, beautiful beach, lake rentals, golf cart rentals, heated bath houses with showers, and electricity ( so you can bring your lights with you!) It is fantastic. |

where do you live? are you going to disneyland or disneyworld how long you going for? these are questions you need to know before anyone can really answer this |

Well it all depends.
If its just you two and you want to stay there for a few days, total cost can be between 1500-2000 (Park hopper tickets, hotel, food, plan ticket)
I went with my dad last summer (just us two) and we went from a friday to a tuesday and it was about that cost. It really depends, if your flying, how much it would cost.
But believe me, its soo worth the money!
Now this summer, I'm going back with my whole family! lol |

First of all, military get discounted tickets. and you can research the packages for Disney world and get some idea of the cost. Try doing the booking from a military travel site, like military.com as you will get better discounts, click on attractions and theme parks for active duty or military. Shades of Green resort, gives rates to the military based on their rank. Busch gardens will give free tickets to the military and families, Budweiser is sponsoring that.Go to Military travel discounts and see what you can find. My husband was injured in Iraq, but we still can use some of the discounts. Good Luck and thank your dad for his service, for me. Thank you for your service as a family member. Hope you have a wonderful time. |

Based on a recent visit: staying in a value resort, four guest, park hopper tickets, dinning plan; you can plan on about 400 dollars per day per person.
