Disney Question?

I am goint to take my 2 children to disneyworld? I was wanting to know if it is better to write down what you are going to do from day to day or is it better just to go with the flow when you get there?

I like going with the flow but, when it comes to dining, you have to plan a little ahead. Sometimes the wait at the restaurants can be long. At Alfredo's in Epcot's Italy, I once overheard a man being told the wait was an hour and a half. Kids, and most adults, can't wait that long and keep a good attitude. If there are restaurants or meals you want to experience, I would recommend you make reservations.

UnholySoldier
definetly go with the flow. schedules are no fun, you just have to take advantage of everything that you can.

The Doctor 46
Make a list of all the things you want to do the most then when you get to the park check out the lines. Don't plain to much it really has to do with the park hours and the waits. When we go to the parks we pretty much just wing it and try and get to all are favorite rides first.

It's hard to follow a schedule in Disney world because of wait times on rides, weather and other factors. I would research the different rides and shows and parades that they have there. The ones you want to go on the most I would do first thing in the morning or as soon as you get to the park. When I go to Magic Kingdom I always hit one of the mountain rides because they become very busy later in the day. I usually will go fast pass big thunder and ride splash mountain or go the oppisite way and fast pass Buzz lightyear and ride space mountain. Trust me take advantage of fast pass it's well worth it. The only thing I would really schedule in are sit down dining and the parades, if you want to see them. The lines are much shorter while the parades are going. I always try to hit rides like Peter Pan or go to Mickey's Toon town to get autgraphs during parades. Try www.allearsnet.com for a listing of rides in all the parks and have a great trip, I know you guys are gonna love it!

I tend to know I want to go certain places, but may not do them in the order I wanted. Plus, with to kids...you aren't going to be able to do everything that you want, when you want. Ya know? I was 20 when I went, and wasn't able to do that. lol. Sometimes...you just have to nap! lol

=) go with the flow!

definately go with the flow, because your plans can change depending on lines, weather, your kids, so many things, as much as one can plan, just go with the flow, eventually it will all get done.

I begin my planning with meals (1-407-W-Disney) making reservations six months in advance. Depending on where the meals are each day we chose the park. I do an itinerary for each day, a bit controlling I realize, but it keeps us from missing something someone wants to do. I also purchased books with helpful hints( where to stand to see parades, fireworks etc) one each page. Meals times, confirmation numbers etc. That way I simple pull the page for the day and head out. Takes the worry away. Our last trip was in November of 06, and a gentle man of the plane offerred me a bundle for the information and meal reservations as they had the same size group and were staying at the same hotel. It was an easy choice at the time, but we could have made another trip out of the deal.

Definitely, write it down. I usually go into microsoft excel and make a plan for every single day that i am there. What park am i going to today? Where am i going for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? What rides should i go to first? Those are some of the things you want to make sure you write down and you take with you everyday to the park, keep it in one of the bags you are carrying so you know what to do next!

Have fun in Disney World!

I would definetly sit down and pick the things that you must see and plan around these attractions.
Try this link. It will give you an idea of what you want to see and will be fun for the kids before you even go. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/myVacation/customizedMaps/index?id=CustomizedMapsSampleMapsPage

of course you want to know what you are going to be doing but dont plan the rides because some times the wait can be long also if the wait is more than a hour then it is not worth it

get an idea of what you want to do, but don't stick directly to your ideas. keep in mind that there will be other people there so you might want to get ideas of what you and your children want to do but don't plan out every minute of every day of your vacation. that could turn your vacation from fun into tedious. have fun. check disneyworld.com for info for what is open and what is closed for renovations.

nto really necessary, but will have more fun if you have a plan like which land etc. a planned schedule. will be more faster this way

I always research and schedule so that I get to see what I want and visit things that I have not before. I always use the fastpass system. If I see that a ride has a long line. I get a fastpass and go to something nearby ride it, by the time you are finished with the first ride you will be able to hop use the fastpass.

Before eating a meal, get a fastpass, when you done eating you can get on a ride. as long as it's not a rollercoster....

It depends on how old your kids are, what you want to do. But probably the best would be a combination of both. Have a main plan for what you must see, and the leave some room for more spontaneous things you might encounter along the way. Also there is an excellent website that can give you hundreds of tips and help you plan your trip. it is www.tourguidemike.com

When we took our trip we planed out everything. Then you know where you are going and what things you can do later. The park is big so you can easly not know where you are.

If its your first time going then expect to be amazed, which will then make it easy for you to get side tracked. Know that there are 4 different theam, 2 water parks, and a downtown area. Have a game plan as to what area you want to be in (the parks are HUGE) that way your not going park to park, that will be hard to take everything in. Dont have a time for everything considering rides have lines and such but do have a set up for the day. HAVE FUN!

I always make an itinerary that revolves around dining. You used to be able to walk in to a restaurant but you can't any longer. I strongly suggest that you make reservations ASAP. Definitely do the character meals -- they are in each park and at many of the hotels for the kids - they are all buffets and you can eat as much as you like (this way you can schedule 2 meals a day - there is no need for 3 meals).

My faves -- MK - Breakfast or Lunch at Crystal Palace or Cinderella's Castle, EPCOT - Princess meal at Norway, France (no char's but great food), MGM - Sci Fi Dine In, 50's Prime Time Cafe, and AK - well, the food isn't great but they do a Donaldasaurus Bkfst in Dinoland.

Figure out which park/water park you are going each day, schedule your meals and then work around the times that you will be eating to figure out which attractions you want to see. Although you can't plan exactly depending upon lines - you can fast pass 1 ride, get on another ride and then return to the 1st ride.

I can't imagine how anyone could do Disney on the fly with 2 kids -- you will be hot, grouchy, hungry and thirsty! Some trips you can go with the flow but this one...definitely plan it out.

just go with the flow, you really can't plan because of waiting in lines and unexpected events or surprises you may encounter.

I would think it would be a good idea to plan because there is a lot of places to visit and if you want to see all you have to have good time management. If you'd rather not deal with the whole planning thing then just go in and enjoy yourself. It's really up to you!

If you are going in the on season, you need a plan. Go to www.touringplans.com For the ultimate in Disney planning, "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2007" by Bob Sehlinger. (2008 guide comes out sometime in late August). I don't know your kids ages, but having the guide will help avoid ride that might scare the kids (or you!). Some of the rides can be overwhelming. The guides can be taken out of the book (if you buy it) or printed from your computer. The book has comprehensive tear out sheets with restaurants listed too. The plans will make sure you see all the top rides (there are a few stinkers not worth waiting to see) with minimal waiting in line. If you go in the off season, you can pick and choose and if there are any long lines you can get a fast pass and come back to the ride later.

scottishduffy
I usually make a general game plan.

For each park we go to I write down the main things we wish to accomplish (a few rides and maybe a show). It isn't a long list at all, and it doesn't have times assigned to things. Then once we are there we just go with the flow. We try to check off our list first, and then after that just do whatever we wish. Dining reservations need to be made ahead of time though.

I would recommend to get a custom map done this is done at disneyworld.com

I would contact these agency:
http://www.galaxy.joystar.com or Email:galaxytravel@verizon.net They usually will get you the best price
