Disney world value resorts?? ?

i've stayed at a few of the nicer disney world resorts with my family however i cant quite afford the expensive hotels my parents choose. im taking my best friend to disney world its her first time there ever( we are both 21) and i know how great of experience i had at those nice hotels and the value ones seem so.. i dont know cheap i guess.. i'm leaning toward saving extra for a moderate priced hotel but if its nice after all id like to stay at a value inn..can someone give me thier input on their stay there? room quality, themes, extra activities... what kind of extra fun stuff is there.

I have stayed at a lot of the nicer hotels, but i really don't think that they are always worth it. you two are both so young you will probably only be there to sleep anyway. you'll be out having fun. i would choose the POP Century hotel it is the newest of all the value hotels and it is fun and young, and very clean. my 20 something brother always stays there and so do a lot of young adults. have fun

Pop Century is a wonderful choice. Nice theme, good food court, cute pool, nice pool bar. And, most importantly, they have their own bus, so no sharing like at the All Star resorts.

The value resorts are fine. They even have different ones for your interests...
think about it, what do you get a hotel room for?
-sleeping.

that's what you do at the value resorts.
They have food court type restaurants, but I usually eat in the parks anyway.

They have nice pools, but they get quite noisy because a lot of people have kids who stay there.

There is a drawback with location... they are far away from the parks, but there is complimentary transportation so no need to worry.

I think you should invest in the parks and shopping (because believe me, you will shop) instead of a resort.

--- just my opinion!

:)
hope it helps!

I've mostly stayed at the moderate and deluxe resorts, but my last trip we stayed at Pop Century and really liked it. It does not have all the amenities of the deluxe resorts, but is very nicely themed. My son really liked all the over sized displays, like the giant Mr. Potatoehead. The pool was nice and the transportation to and from the parks as efficient. If you really need to have a sit down restaurant and other offerings at your resort, then a value is not for you. Everything Pop did fit our dining and shopping needs and did not feel "cheap" to us. So if you want to save some money and still get the Disney Treatment, then I think Pop could work well for you.

The All Star Resorts- Music Sports and Movies is a good resort, it is filled with lots of kids, but so are all of the resorts.

POP Century is also a good property, but also pretty basic as far as services, food, and amenities go.

But they are clean, safe, and give you access to all of the Disney Magic that you want!

If you want to read a review on All Star read here http://orlandofuntickets.com/disney_all_star_resort.php
Then if you want to read a review on POP Century read here http://www.orlandofuntickets.com/disney_pop_century_resort.php

Have fun!

If you can't afford to stay at one of the moderate resorts, then I would stay at a Disneyworld value resort before staying off site. The only value resort I've stayed at is the Pop Century. It was nice.

Basically, the value resorts are further away from the parks, but you do get the free bus service, and/or parking privilages at the parks if you are staying in any Disney hotel.

And they're themed very nicely which just adds to the whole Disney experience.

Of course, they're not as nice as the deluxe resorts, but you only get what you pay for.

I'm sure you know the old saying "You get what you pay for". The less expensive the room, the less amenities that are offered. The Disney Value Resorts are the Motel 6 of Disney. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them, I've stayed in them plenty - but if you want 5 star service, you need to expect to pay the 5 star price. I've stayed at the fancy places too and I very much enjoy them. But the truth is, I don't really spend enough time in the room to care. I spend my time at the parks or at other attractions. The room is a bed and shower. So it will come down to what you want to make a priority and how much you really want to spend.

We all got shot down a peg when we first left the luxury of mom and dad paying for vacation. It's natural - go with it. You'll learn a lot and have fun along the way - just at a less fancy place :)

value resort at disney are basic hotel rooms but the benefits of disney transportation. let me warn you all star movies, music, and sports share the same route so the buses are very crowded now pop century does not share these buses. i recommend you to stay at pop century its the newest of the value resort.

The value resorts are ok. They are very basic, like a lot of cheap hotels. The nicest is Pop Century.

My opinion is that if you plan to be in the parks most of the time, save yourself some money and get a cheap room.

There's reviews and pictures here: http://allears.net/acc/faq_hot.htm

From my experience (12+ trip to WDW) I've stayed in the expensive hotels, moderates and the values and if you can't afford the expensive one's then the values are the way to go. The moderate rooms are supposed to be a little big bigger but I never noticed a difference in size. It's not worth the extra money.

I stayed at Pop as well, and I loved it. I is far away from Magic Kingdom, but there was one night I watched the fireworks at Epcot from my building, in the 50's themed area. Check out my blog, I tell about my full experience

I'd go back again in a heartbeat, I think Pop and the All Star resorts capture the Disney feel of whimsy

I worked a Pop Century when it opened. It is a really great resort. I'm glad to hear that so many people like it.

If you are 21 and want to stay at a Disney resort, stay at Caribbean Beach. It's Pop Century's sister resort and in the moderate price range. It's true that the value resorts get lots and lots of kids! If you don't want to be around a ton of kids if you swim or go to the food court, then go with a moderate hotel.

In Pop Century (or All-Star) resort you get a small room (2 full or 1 king) shower/bath, small closet, cable, internet ($.25 connection charge each time you connect), pricey food court (get the mug and you get unlimited drink the whole stay), long walks if you are in the 80's and 90's (get a room in the 50's; it's $10 cheaper and not much farther away), free bus transport to parks, great gift shop, SOMETIMES characters come, game room... etc.

Tips: You can check in before 3:00pm (check in time) but you can't get into your room before 3. Check in between noon and 2 and the line should be short, or after 5pm. If you request it, you can have balloons and a character card sent to the room, call the front desk (usually for birthdays and anniversaries, etc.)

Bottom line, stay at a value resort if you are just going to sleep in the room. Buy food to keep in the room (rental for a fridge is an extra $10 a day) because the food court is busy and pricey. Or if you are just going to stay and sleep and don't care about the "Disney Experience" just stay in the Holiday Inn, it's bigger and cheaper and you get continental breakfast. LOL!

Oh yeah, if you stay in a Disney resort you can participate in Extra Magic Hour (on certain days, check the resort for the days, usually on the weekend). That is when the park opens an hour early for Disney Resort guests. You just have to show your valid room key (and park ticket). Or you can pay a little extra and go to the Extra Magic Hour which it an extra 3 hours after the park closes (much cooler! in more than one way!) once again, check with the resort for the dates on that.

Have a great trip, hope that helps! I could talk for ever about Disney World!!

I stayed at Pop Century twice, once with family and once with my fiancee. Let me tell you if you are 21 don't stay at the value resorts...kids are EVERYWHERE. I don't mind children, actually I love them but they are so loud and run around everywhere and rooms are paper thin and can hear them screaming. Just not a good experience. I was even tempted to ask to change resorts, I was 23 at the time. If I were you, I would spring for a little more and stay at Port Orleans. Very nice and quiet...and it's still cheaper then the resorts you are used to

I've been to WDW 3 times and stayed at Pop Century every time.We chose it because it's one of the cheapest and newest. We really like it.The theme is the decades. The rooms are not that big but they are comfortable. They have 2 pools, laundry room, arcade, bar, shopping, pizza delivery and a cafeteria.I think it's more fun for young people. We visited Caribbean Beach and the Grand Floridian and they seemed boring.

We have been to florida twice & are going again in january. We also have to budget & have found the cheaper hotels really good, coz alot of them provide FREE shuttle buses to the parks which saves you loads of money. The internet gives you the best deals better than a travel agent. this is the one we use-

I've never staid at one of the value resorts, but it's my understanding that they are further away from the parks and the bus service takes longer to circulate to those resorts.

I staid at a moderate resort (port orleans riverside) last fall and thought it was perfect.
