I think that Disney is the best place to go on vacation! I loved going when I was younger, and love going just as much now. You and your family will have a blast!!
First of all, you need to decide where to stay. There are a bunch of resort hotels on Disney property to choose from in all different price ranges. Make sure your parents know that the only way to go when visiting Disney is to stay on property at a Disney resort. Price wise they are comparable to anything that is offered off site, plus you get something the off site hotels can't offer, PERKS. Disney takes great care of their resort guests. For example, they offer free transportation to and from Orlando International airport on Disney's magical express. You don't even have to handle your bags, they will deliver them right to your room. Next, you have unlimited use of the transportation system. All of the off site hotels offer shuttle service, but you are on their schedule not yours and in many cases it is an extra cost. They also offer extra magic hours for resort guests only, which means that one park opens early and one stays open late for resort guests only. Plus you get the famous Disney service, making staying at a Disney resort the best way to go.
When purchasing your tickets to the park, make sure that your parents add the Park hopper option. What the park hopper option does is it gives you the opportunity to come and go as you please from whichever park you want. If you don't add the park hopper option, you can only visit one park per day. Say, for example, you have spent much of the day at the Animal Kingdom, and you decide you want to head over to MGM studios later that night to try to catch the Fantasmic night time show (a must see by the way!) You are only allowed to do that if you have the park hopper option added to your tickets. It just gives you the ultimate in flexibility for your trip.
There are tons to see and do at all of the parks for any age, from 1 to 100! Your brother may think that going to Disney is for kids, let me tell you it is not. They have some of the best rides in Florida. Here are some of my (and my kids, who are 12 and 7) favorites.
Tower of Terror - free fall drop at MGM studios
Rock 'N' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith - My favorite roller coaster.
Space Mountain, Splash Mtn., Thunder Mtn, Railroad - great thrill rides, two of them are roller coasters, one is a waterfall drop.
Expedition Everest - newest roller coaster in Disney. It is fast, fun and you come face to face with the Yeti himself (the Abomidable Snowman.)
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin - an interactive video game.
Soarin' - a ride in Epcot where you feel like you are flying in a hanglider.
Test Track - fastest ride in Disney getting up to 65-70 mph. You go through what it is like to test out a car.
Mission Space - the most intense ride I have ever seen. You actually feel what it is like to go up in a rocket.
Some of the shows you don't want to miss are:
Indiana Jones stunt spectacular, Extreme Stunt show, Spectromagic Parade in Magic Kingdom (night time electrial parade), Illuminations in Epcot (night time fireworks and laser light show in Epcot), Fantasmic in MGM, Wishes fireworks show in Magic Kingdom.
There is so much more to see and do I couldn't possibly list everything here. I would suggest going to a few other places to get tons of info and ideas, then make a list of things that you want to see and do. First, check out the Disney website. They have a resort comparison tool for your parents and you to pick out where you want to stay, and a listing of every ride, attraction and restaurant in the entire resort area. Second, check out the disboards. The disboards is a message board website that is all about going to Disney. You can ask questions, get dining reviews, resort reviews, trip reports, tips and tricks about how to avoid crowds and get to see and do what you want, all from people who love to go to Disney and know what they are talking about. Also, check out allears.net. There is a ton of info about what is going on at Disney here. Finally, go to the bookstore and pick up the Birnbaum's guide to WDW. There are tons of guide books out there, but that is the one that works best for us. If you have any questions feel free to email me, I love to help. (I don't work for a travel agent or anything, I just love going to Disney with my family.)
Have a great trip and have fun planning! |

DisneyWorld is a great place for a family vacation! There is so much to do, for everyone. Be sure to visit all the parks, the waterparks if you can, and Downtown Disney. If you are staying on Disney property, check out the extra magic hours, which will allow you access to parks before or after the park opens or closes to the general public - eliminates some of the crowds. I have been there with my entire family - kids, teens, adults - everyone had a blast! |

Disney World is the most fun place I can think of. Just remember that you have to enjoy yourself. Try ALL the rides- even if you think they are "baby-ish". I personally wouldn't ride the teacups for 2 years because I thought that. Now, it is one of my favorite rides!!
You will love it. Your brother will probably like MGM the best. There is the Rock N Roller Coaster, The Tower of Terror (which I think the name is scarier than the ride) and the Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt show. These are things your whole family will like.
Have a great time! |

I think Disney is a great place to go! A few things to know: Disney is made up of 4 different theme parks:
Magic Kingdom (with Cinderella's Castle, has the most rides, is the original park, true Disney magic)
Epcot (a little more stop-and-smell-the-roses in my opinion, still lots of fun, the countries in the back section are really fun)
MGM-Disney Studios (smaller, but has some of my favorite things, definitely worth a look)
Animal Kingdom (part zoo, still a half-day park for me, if I was going to skip one this would be it)
Disney also has a couple of water parks, golf courses, Downtown Disney (a shopping/eating district, with Pleasure Island night clubs). Plus all the on-property resorts are really neat. You could probably spend a day going from hotel to hotel, just looking at the amazing scenery!
I have gone myself and with family members at your ages. I think there's plenty to do. If you do decide to go, I strongly suggest a guidebook such as Birnbaum's or Passporter. Also, check out this awesome site for everything to do with Disney: http://www.allearsnet.com
If you decide to go Disney, you can buy multi-day, multi-park tickets to save a little money. You can also break it up a little by traveling to nearby Universal or Sea World if you wanted. There's also good shopping nearby! |

Disney is fun for a family. Stay at one of the hotels and there is lots of stuff to do. Universal Studios and Island of Adventure is more toward an older crowd. More roller coasters and older games. But if you have never been i would say you need to go once. |
