Hi I have been to Orlando 10 times and stayed at Disney the 3rd year. It is hard to get between disney and elsewhere, for example Universal/ Shopping/ International drive on the public transport system.
The easiest way is to ask at the Hotel reception. They know which is the cheapest route. We once went to a dinner show in a limo as it was cheaper than a taxi, which sometimes charge you per person. Some of the hotels have an outside contract with a transportation company like mears and have their own desk. You book the time you want to leave and then call them 20 mins before you want to come home. It can take 20 mins to walk from the front of Universal or Islands of Adventure to the pick up point in the car park.
Forget the expense and enjoy yourself. If you require any more info on Disney or Universal just mail me and I'll let you know lots more.
Cheers,
Sarah. |

Well With Mears transportation it would be 16.00 per person no matter the age. You might be able to make it cheaper by getting a taxi but I doubt it.. I would either take a transfer or if you were going for more then just one day then you might think about renting a car for the couple of days that you are to be going over to universal... |

hi, depends which resort your staying at, but universal studios are just above International drive so no more than about $20.00 each way, enjoy... |

Disney does not have transportation to Universal Studios but a little known fact is that Universal Studios has some limited transportation from Disney to Universal. Just make certain that you pay attention to the schedule so that you do not miss your bus. |

Last year we got a taxi from the Disney transportation centre to I drive, which cost $25, so I suppose to go to Universal it will be around $30. There are several shuttle companies which drop off at the Disney transportation centre, we used one to go back to our hotel on I drive which cost $3 per person. It should only be a few dollars more to go to Universal. There is also a lynx bus from the transportation centre which takes you to the top of I drive for $1.50, then it is about a 20 minute walk to Univerasal. Hope this helps. |

Go online and look into the Lynx bus system. I'm not positive about all of the places it goes to. But when I lived down there I remembered seeing those busses EVERYWHERE. http://www.golynx.com/?pid=1155761 (This is the Lynx trip planner.) |

You will have to get a county bus ride or a taxi. There is no shuttle busses that serve disney, that go to Universal. Universal is about 1/2 hour drive north of Dinsey. |

The Disney transportation system only takes you between Disney Resorts, Disney Parks, Downtown Disney, etc. Disney transportation only takes you to all thing Disney. You can't get a free shuttle at a Disney Resort to take you to Universal.
O.k , that being said, your best choice is to rent a car for a day or 2 at Walt Disney World (they have Alamo/National. The hotels at Downtown Disney area also offer car rentals (along Hotel Plaza Boulevard). I think they offer Hertz and Avis. You should use coupons and discount codes to get the best price.
If a car rental doesn't fit your needs (convenience vs price) you can use the Mears Shuttle.Mears offers scheduled, shared transportation between Disney and Universal. Their schedules might be inconvenient for you though - about $17 per person.
You can get a taxi. Taxis are easy to use but can cost you more than a car rental. - about $30 one way plus tip. So you are looking at $70 for round trip depending on traffic. Traffic on I-4 can get very congested.
Public transportation would be my last choice, Public buses do run between the two Parks but a transfer is required. It will take you a long time on Lynx (public bus system ) to get there but it is your cheapest alternative. |

I've been there 4 times, and it's not too far if you rent a car at an airport |

2) shuttle bus
3) taxi |

Disney itself doesn't have transportation to Universal Studios, so you are going to have to call a cab, which can be pricey in the Orlando area. |

Unless you figure out a way to use the city bus the most convenient and cost effective way would be to rent a small car for consecutive days for visits to Universal and then return it. A round trip taxi will be more expensive than a rental. If you do decide to get a car you'll have the flexibility to eat outside of Disney, therefore, saving yourselves a bundle over the course of a week. I find after just 1 week I long for a plain ham and cheese sandwich. You'll have the vehicle to run to the store for these items with a rental.
I wanted to add that an annual pass would be much less expensive than a 14 day pass. I know you're not asking but I thought I'd share. If you haven't looked into it you may find it will save you more money, including the perks that come along with it as well. :) |
