i have heard they really like us over there, they love our accent. my friend moved over there and said he got free dinners for a week becasue they all loved him. my other friend also said that all her neighbours are so friendly and love her going over to there houses. i think it all depends on where you go though

Click the American flag at the bottom of your screen and go on the US server - a lot more Americans on there - for some strange reason. They are all English and UK people on this one - and some Irish....

I don't have a problem with English people. Most people I know are very friendly towards the English. I never hear of any kind of "hate crime" against an English person or anything negative at all. Come and enjoy your stay.

I'm going to answer this, the americans have always made me welcome and invited me into there homes,if your alright with them there fine with you.and Ive a lot of friends over there.

I've always found Americans very friendly, especially when they hear my London accent - they keep, asking questions to get you to speak more and always seem interested in what I have to say. Hope you enjoy your visit there as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Some do, some don't. I never had anyone behave in a hostile way at all, most people were friendly, and lots of them didn't realise I was British.

When people do twig, the main thing you'll have to deal with is people asking naive questions (things like "Do you have Thanksgiving?") or asking you to "Say something in that cute accent!" - obviously that's not offensive but I found it did get a bit wearing sometimes.

Definitely go and stay if you have the opportunity, it should be a fascinating experience.

Nobody like "Bad" English people.

I am a Yorkshire Tyke .My girlfriend is American, and loves my accent. It tickles her when she asks me to say " I've left my car keys in my khakis"..........

Americans are generally much more polite than the Brits.

If you fit into the old shoe-shine-boy chimney-sweep image they have of Londoners then I'm sure you'll be fine, just don't try any British humour as it's lost on them.

From experience of going to the West coast, they'll probably just accept you as a tourist and not bat an eye lid, for the most part people in public-facing jobs are very friendly to everyone.

I know that personally I have nothing against the British...I'm sure there are Americans who have a grudge against English people for whatever reason, but then again I imagine that's a risk in any foreign country that one travels to, regardless of your nationality.

I'm English and speak with a very very "plummy" accent (I'm from North Yorkshire though) but the Americans I've met seem to love that (almost as much as the cockney accent). Most Americans are genuine, good hearted people - as in all countries you get the odd oddball. I prefer the manners and politeness of the Americans to the English .

I can only speak for myself, and I have no bitter feelings toward the English people. I love the English accent. I also feel that England is one of the few countries that the US can readily identify with.

Come on over. You have no reason to expect any hostile attitudes.

I'm British and i'm gonna answer, I've been to Canada and USA and there's only two type of people - ANGELS and *SSHOLES.
The meaning behind this is that you will meet SOME really good interesting and very helpfull people who will go all out for you, but the rest - just a bunch of *ssholes.
