I have lived in Dallas all my life, and my family has had a condo in Santa Fe since I was a kid, so I hope I can tell you a little about both places.
Dallas is probably a better place to raise a family, there are some really nice areas (Coppell, Plano, Allen, Richardson, many more) with relatively cheap housing and living costs, and some really good school systems. There are tons of things to do if you're into the nightlife, not to mention all the area attractions like amusement parks, pro sports teams, museums, etc. But if you're into outdoor recreation, skiing, hiking, art scene...Santa Fe is hard to beat. It is one of the most unique places in the US, and it kind of seems like you're in another country when you go there. All the buildings are adobe, by law, which can seem strange at first. There are probably more art galleries and museums per capita than anywhere in the world, the mountains are 10 minutes away, the air is totally pollution free, the weather is great (a little cold in winter) and the town square always has something going on. If I were you I'd choose Santa Fe, it will cost you a little more but I think you'll fall in love with the place, and I don't think you'll ever get bored |

There are probably many in Dallas who would love to live in Santa Fe. But very few people in Santa Fe would be remotely interested in moving to Dallas. |

Santa Fe is AWESOME!! The weather is much better than Dallas, also. Cost of living might be higher, but it's worth it. If I could move there, I'd do it in a second! It's beautiful there, tons of outdoor activities, artsy stuff, and the food is terrific. New Mexican cusine is a little different than Mexican or Tex-Mex. Have you had New Mexico sopapillias?? You can only make them there, something about the altitude. |

ive never been to dallas before, but santa fe is awesome. its very turisty though. great atmosphere, culture, beautiful. hot. but i hear dallas is amazing as well. i think both would be equally as fun. whichever you choose will be great. maybe look into which one will be less expensive to live in. i would imagine santa fe would be but who knows. |

Dallas doesn't have much to do besides drinking, and most people here are pretty pretentious. BUT, it's not that bad. Just your basic big city with nothing pretty to look at scenery wise. |

Well I live near dallas. The good thing about it is is Ft worth isn't far way either so you have lots of nightlife possiblities...
but as far as scenery and clean air Sante fe is beautiful.
Depend who you are and what you like to do? |

Dallas is more metropolitan Santa Fe more touristy. Santa Fe is much prettier with outside stuff to do. Dallas has lots of places to shop and eat. |

i lived in dallas for 40 + years and it is ok.. i have no complaints but everytime i visit new mexico or santa fe i say to myself that i wish i could live there.. art, food, mountains, rivers |

Do you want mountains or a bigger city? |
|

?
|
Sante Fe is high priced but offers alot of outdoor activities and good food, New Mexico does have a state tax and Texas does'nt. If it was my choice to make I'd live in Sante Fe or better outside of Sante Fe rather than Dallas.(Grew up and live in Dallas, it's not that great of a city) |

Dallas, theres plenty to do- and everything is fairly priced(cheap!), which makes for good shopping. its also a nice place to raise a family. but, like every city, there are a few shady parts of town. not much negative about dallas though |

Dallas I lived there it has alot to offer, history, the night life you name it. Especially if your single the people are nice, and friendly. My only regret is that I wished I had stayed. |

Dallas is a big metropolitan area.
Santa Fe is more artsy and is closer to nature.
Think about which you'd like better. |

DALLAS :
possible places:
Flower Mound: beautiful rolling hills, mounds of flowers, small town feel, shops and things to do, close to places like Ft. Worth and places with a lot of stuff to do...
Addison: nice area
Coppell: really nice, close to a lot of job opportunities
