Do I need a visa to visit Florida?

We are currently booking a holiday to florida next year, and the holiday company have informed us to contact the US embassy, which we have done, and they have told us to check out "visas to the US 'FAQs'" which I have tried but I cannot find the information I am looking for, can some body tell me where I need to go, or who I need to contact..

In brief I want answering :-
Can I gain entry to the US on vacation for 2 weeks, if I have driven my car with no insurance, this happened about 10 years ago.. I have paid my fines.
Additional Details
We do not beleive that we need one, but we have been informed that since I have a driving offence, without this visa I would be turned round and deported home again.

It depends where you're from. The only two countries I know that are so egocentric they'd forget to mention their nationality are the US and UK. Since you're obviously not from the US based on the question I'm going to assume you're British - in which case the answer is, you'll be fine. You can enter the US under visa waiver for up to 90 days and they will not care about a minor driving offence 10 years ago (and I doubt it'll show in their system anyway).

You can apply for a visa if you want to be 100% sure, tho I'd think it unnecessary. Just get the forms for a tourist visa from the US embassy website, it's a 6 month visa. The problem with this is now you have to attend the embassy in person for an interview. It's a formality, you'll have no problem getting it, but if you don't live anywhere near an embassy/consulate (there's several around the UK) it can be a pain in the ***.

As of January 1 of 2007 all people will need a passport and visa to cross the borders of the US into Mexico and Canada so go to your government and get a passport and then go to the American Consulate and get a visa.

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/ try that site but you will only need a visa if your stasyin for more than 90 days straight if you are from a country that has signed up to the visa waiver programme then you will get a small ? card on board the plane this is an i94 form concerning your entry to usa

dukedog
That is true as i had to get a visa for a similar offence, however I thought it was only for 7 years, after that the offence has lapsed.
Just ring them to make sure, if you do need one its such a procedure, special sized photos and an interview in either London or Belfast. Believe it or not its quicker and cheaper to fly to Belfast on budget airlines than wait for an appointment in London

if you are english you do not need a visa to travel to the usa the traffic offence was 10 years ago . i would phone to make sure first which is the best way then you will know for sure no matter what people say

LA
Better safe than sorry.

Get the passport.

Unless you are driving into the US from Canada or Mexico you will need one.... and those rules might be changing soon.

This is America! Everyone get's a second chance. You absolutely can come here with a visa. Be Realistic! If you are a native of Iraq, Iran, Pakastan, Afganistan...You are probably going to be run around until you give up. But if you are a citizen of a non - confrontational country, You just need to get a visa and pack your swim trunks, sun tan lotion and tourist dollars.

Now As I said before, This is America! We don't really work. In fact almost everything I touch is made in another counrty... Therefore, when you call our government offices.. don't expect anyone in the government to work. Don't worry - Be Happy! Go to www.unitedstatesvisa.gov and follow the instructions. Forget about your traffic ticket - Heck, you should see Senator Kennedy's driving record!

Depends on where you are coing from. You need a passport if you are coming from most countries other than Canada. Generally you only need a Visa if you are coming to work in the US

I think you can use your master card in Florida so don't worry if you don't have a visa.
