No I don't. Why would I want to give a bunch of terrorists the satisfaction of knowing that they have so devastated my country that we take the day off. Going about our every day lives is the best revenge we can take.
That's not to say that the memorials should stop...people are hurting and they may need them to get them through the day.
I'd rather take a day off for something celebratory. |

Absolutely not.
Was Pearl Harbor Day a holiday? No.
America, we need to butch up! 9/11 is a day for reflection and remembrance (I lost two high school classmates that day). That's it. I can do that before I drive into work, when I get home, or whenever I want. |

because most of us
will just use the day
too sleep.
and not have minutes of silence etc.
as if your at work school.
the boss will assist it probally
so thers a better chance we will respect it |

No, I live in NYC and no one I know would want this to be a day off. It is a day that everyone should be doing exactly what they would normally do (other than those grieving lost ones). Why do exactly as always, to show that no matter what, this country and people will continue to function despite other people's desires. Do you think London stops working on the date people were blown up in the Underground. No. they stop for a moment out of a respect and go about their business and so should we. |

No. Do we get Pearl Harbor Day off? I think people just want an excuse for another day off - I'm sure part of the reason we don't get it off is because it is so close to Labor Day which is a "bank/school" holiday that we get off. I think we can still remember the day and memorialize the people who died and do stuff to remember it without needing a day off for it. |

no....do you think Japan stops working on the "we dropped a bomb on your a**" day? no.....we are lazy. |

It should not be a national holiday.
The people that were personally affected by the terrorist attacks should be able to spend the day as they wish.
But for the most part, this really did not impact the whole country and I think that over the years people have really attached themselves to what happened out of a sense of patriotism, not a sense of loss.
Maybe it is different for me because I have lived in NYC my whole life, and when I hear people talk about 9/11 who live so far away and don't even know a single person that was affected, I wonder why they are so devasted that they would need a day off?
It would be like people in NYC wanting a day off to remember Pearl Harbor or the San Francsico earthquake. |

I think you are all so brave coping with this,
I think you should have a day to remember
In the UK where I live, 3 days after on the 14th at 11 am we held a 3 minutes silence to remember the victims and the survivors, my daughter died at exactly 11am that day,
Someone said to me it was her way of telling me she wasn't alone,
I think you are all so brave, and deserve a day off |

Nope, no way!
We should do what we do every day....of course, we all feel with those who lost a loved one. But these innocent lifes would have wanted us to continue to carry on as normal.

Absolutely not. Part of the healing process is go about your normal business - and that's what Rudy, Bloomberg, and Bush all said. We shouldn't stop what we do because some radicals don't like how we live. By declaring it a "national holiday" aka a "day off" would cheapen the meaning - stores would find a way to make it a special sale day, and nobody would remember what that day REALLY means.
For those personally effected by the events of that day, they can choose to use the day for private reflection and rememberance, as should anyone who feels they need to - but they should do it in their own way. |

Absolutely not a day to take off. I intend to go to work in the city as usual.I will think of people who are no longer here and celebrate the fact that we are still here and stronger than ever. |

No. It should be a day of working and going about our business, because to stop the city is exactly what the people who were flying the planes wanted. At my work we say a small prayer for them every anniversary, have a moment of silence, we lost four coworkers, and then we get back to work. |

If you lost someone, yes. But only to honor them and that's it. Otherwise, it shouldn't be a day off. |

I may become a national hotel one day but I think they haven't done anything for it yet because the scars are still new and it's better for those hurt by the attack that they are busy that day and not thinking about the past. |

wanna have most best ans ever!

it ABSOLUTELY should be a day off in memorial for all those who lost their lives. |

i think so. because i remember when i was in kindergarten, i had a day off and i was watching the news in my living room. and my dad looked all worried, but had no idea wat was going on. but i knew it was Tuesday, September 11th. i think we should take it off because it is a tragic, historical even that took place in our country.
