Do they really give you free alcohol in las vegas?

I was recently visiting relatives and they said that the casino's in las vegas don't give free alcohol anymore...... I visited about 15 years ago and just wanted to know if my relatives were correct in there statements

I have never paid for a drink when I am playing regradless of whether its a 1c slot or I am playing $50 a hand at the tables. My last trip was in February and we got wasted without buying a single drink.

Some places give you more free drinks than others, if you go downtown drinks flow freely and quickly, on the Strip if you are in the slos or lowlimit tables you have to have a scout round and see where to sit to get the best service. We found on the Strip Wynn, Mirage, Excalibur and NYNY to be some of the best, Ceasars was by far the worst even when playing $25 per hand, Paris was bad as was Venitian. Have look at this post there is information about free drinks http://vegasuncovered.wordpress.com/2008/05/07/free-drinks-in-vegas-casinos-etiquette/

It hasn't changed any. They still have free drinks. I'll play tables and slots on occasion and a waitress always comes around..

If you're going to play for a while, tip her $5 right off the bat and she'll be around every couple minutes.

Rain
If your gambling then yes! I'm from Vegas and that has not changed. You still have to tip if you want the waitress to come back around.

Hi There!

I live in Las Vegas and we go to the Casino's pretty regularly.

Things don't flow as freely as they did 15 years ago, but - you can still get some free things.

If you are sitting at a bar that has video poker or slots at a casino - they will give you free drinks to keep playing.

Same with if you are playing slots or table games & a waitress serves you.

Drinks are not free if you are just drinking - they want you playing! LOL since that is where they make the money.

Be sure to tip on the free drinks - $1 for each drink you have.

Let me know if you have any other Vegas Questions! I'm happy to help! : )

If you are playing.

They still do give free cocktails if you are gambling...are you kidding me...they make more money off of everything else...giving out alcohol for free is like giving out free tap water for them...

ScottyDOESknow
I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago, and here is what happened to me: On the strip, if you were playing, they would give you alcohol for free. BUT I went downtown (The Mermaid, to be exact) and alcohol was free all night. And they WERE NOT stingy with it. Shots were free downtown too.

If you are gambling at a table or slots, casinos give you free drinks, alcohol and otherwise. But not at a bar, where you are expected to pay for the drink.

I go every year. If you play the slots they'll keep you sloshed pretty good. Tip the waitress though, at least $1

well i dont know if its changed since august 2007, but i was there for my wedding and YES as long as you are gambling in their casino they give you free drinks, believe me my husband showed up 2 hours before our 12pm wedding drunk from all the free yaggerbombs they gave him while he gambled, haha. and if you win alot of money they will give you a free room just to keep you there to spend and lose all your winnings. anything they can do to keep you in their casino losing your money they will do it. when i set at the slot machines the waitress never even let my glass get empty before she brought me a drink. and dont listen to people that tell you there is a minium you have to pay because i set at the 10 cent slots, but it is nice to tip the waitress at least a dollar.they even gave me VIP passes to club PURE after i spent a whole day there at one machine. Vegas is definitely addictive. hope i helped.

You will get served free drinks as long as your gambling at the casino. P.S. Tip the person who brings you the drink or they won't come back for a long time...

You have to be gambling, but they still come around and offer free drinks. I've never been playing and NOT been offered a drink. They come around more often to the tables than to the slots, and more often to the pricier slots than to the penny slots, for instance. But yeah, you can still get free drinks if you're gambling.

Otherwise, no, there aren't any free drinks in Vegas.

Still free as long as you are playing

What is the bit with the free drinks that gets everyone so worked up? Look, if you are gambling, a waitress will eventually come up to you and ask if you want anything to drink. Order your beer or whatever and she will bring it to you. You tip her a buck and that is it. What is the big deal?

Some Casinos provide more rapid service some are slow. If you like to drink a lot, you can sit right at the bar with the video poker machines embedded in the bar and still drink for free. But you have to be gambling!

What is so hard to believe? This is the case in every casino I have every been too, Atlantic City, or Indian reservation.

Play @ the tables, get free drinks.

TwinkaTee
I went last year and no one was offering me free drinks. However, I am sure if you are spending a large amount of money, they would bring you something....

LayerWAN
Most still do in the card tables but they may have a minimum on betting. Same on the machines. But yeah some casino's don't bring you free alcohol anymore, I think it mostly has to do with wasted alcohol and of course the economy.

well if you gamble there, and at the right table / slot / section long enough then they will start liquoring you up.

Noel B
yeah. its watered down. taste really bad, they use the cheap stuff to keep you playing on the slot machines. Nothing exciting.

Hey there

I got married there last year. No free drinks, at the hotel where we were staying, or getting married at, none at the place we had the reception. None at the places we gambled at. We were in search of free drinks, even telling them that we were out there for or wedding - nothing. No one in our traveling party (of 40) could find free drinks either. My aunt, who gambles obscene amounts of money, wasn't even offered a drink at the table she was playing poker at for hours. I would love to know where these free drinks are, no one could seem to find the places.
