It is expensive, but for those of us blessed to be here, there IS no other place. So Cal has it all! And there is more to So Cal than L.A.; check out other areas. Mountains, deserts, central coast, inland areas...we do have something for every taste. |

I've lived here all my life, and although it is expensive, I wouldn't move anywhere else! |

Southern California is probably the very best place to live in all of the USA.
Now, mind you, I didn't say Los Angeles or San Diego, I said Southern California, just as you have asked.
There are plenty of wonderfully beautiful, quiet, safe and affordable communities throughout Southern Califronia.
And you just can not beat the weather. No other locale in the nation has better weather than Southern California. |

It's EXPENSIVE!!! and CROWDED!!! (takes an hour to go from point A to point B when it couldve taken me 20 min. without traffic) so no.
If it was cheap (and not crowded), then yes. ^_^ |

So.Cal is a great place to visit, but I personally am sick of it. I live here and I'm done with the whole "Hollywood" scene. There are a lot of stuck up people here. Some places are nice, but others are totally plastic. The weather is ok, but isn't very diverse. There is sun during summer, then mostly cloudy winters. Lately it has been cold during the winters! But no snow!!! :( Its totally a personal thing, so if you visit you'll get a better idea. San Diego is my fav place here, and is kind of diverse in people and environment. But yeah it is VERY expensive most places here! Good luck! |

I live in L.A. and I love it, except for the traffic which is horrible. You just learn how to deal with it. I love the climate. I used to live in NY and do not miss those winters one bit.
It's certainly expensive but worth it, IMO, and salaries are higher than in other areas. You get what you pay for.
Visit first and see what you think and what the job opportunities are for what you do. It's a huge area and as you get farther away from the big cities (like L.A. and San Diego), prices go down, but it's still expensive compared to most of the country. |

i'm on the border of socal and central california
it's a little slower up here and santa barbara is a short drive north and five cities is a good weekend trip. lots of money. we only bring in about $65k but i know all the no money fun things to do. plus we work close to our homes ( 5 minutes) so we don't have to spend much in gas or endure traffic. |

It's nice, I'm burnt out because I never lived anywhere else. And I agree with the person that gave you L.A. and San Diego (people tend to think of L.A. as only SoCal). I've lived in both cities.
And to answer your question, SoCal is very expensive, the middle class lives paycheck to paycheck out here. However, there's always something to do here...and I'm pretty sure we offer more recreational activities than any other place in the country.
Moreover, it has it's ups and downs, everything is not what you see on tv...believe that. |

If you like it busy, I'd recommend it, but it can become frustrating after awhile. Also, pretty much everywhere in California is expensive. |
