Like someone already said, NYC is very expensive.

It is also very crowded. The lines, traffic, noise, congestion and craziness would drive me crazy. It can be a little dangerous too.

But, it also has a lot of good job opprotunities, is fun and exciting and is very diverse.

Just don't get lost between the Moon and New York City.

Ghost Rocket
I live in NYC and it is a great place to live. In fact, there are many great places to live all around NYC, Connecticut and New Jersey! NYC is actually the safest large city in the U.S., we all know that crime happens here, but the chances of something happening to the guy standing next to you, rather than yourself is better in NYC. Come visit, it's the best.

New York City, if you can afford it, is the most exciting place in the world.

I live in NYC and I love it here. The expenses are pretty high so if you want to live here and be happy, you got to make sure you have a good job.

The thing I like about NYC is that it's a great place for exploration. I've lived here for almost 10 years and there's still places I haven't gone and discovered. Everytime I step into the city, it's something new and refreshing.

The only other bad things, however, is the crime rates and dirtiness. And don't forget the rude rushed New Yorkers.

It's wonderful, it's fulfilling, stimulating, always educational and believe it or not, it can be spiritual, too; there are thousands of churches/temples/sanctuaries representing every religion in the world. Don't think that New York is only full of mindless bar-hopping 20-somethings, nor mindless mega-millionaires or pants-falling-off-thugs. New York is mostly full of regular people, and the difference that I see from non-NYkers is that they have been exposed to a bigger variety of people, food, sights, thoughts and ways of living and thus are more aware and accepting of difference. Different is not wrong in NY; just different. That's why polls always show that NYkers are the nicest people.

You'll never be bored and never at a loss of what to do, any time of day of the week! Go to citysearch.com, or timeout.com or any New York newspaper, magazine and find an exhibit, performance, dance, concert, show, festival, flea market, lecture, presentation, discount sale, meeting, class, demonstration, parade, protest march, convention, celebration, fireworks, athletic event every day. Or, you can just walk around, sit on a bench and people watch in a plaza, small park, Central Park, Prospect Park, outside on museum steps, in front of a store, sitting on your (own) car or bike, al fresco at a cafe or just off to the side on a street corner. Watching New York and the world visiting NY go by is a beautiful experience, equal parts funny, astonishing, disgusting, scary, intriguing, mysterious, weird, entertaining, awe-inspiring and spiritual.

yes. But not Manhattan. You can find some cheaper house/apartment in the other boroughs, but it's still costly. I love living in NYC. There's lots to do and many places to shop. And also many different people. The negative thing is it's dirty and sometimes too crowded and people can sometimes be very rude and mean.

Yes... grew up here. I love it, there's always a lot to do and there are always people around (which I like... I don't value privacy as much as others, I think of it as isolation). I don't mind the noise either, but it might bother others.

I like the fast pace, I like that it never sleeps and there is always something open at all hours... NY never shuts down, the subways run all night long, there are always taxis, always diners or whatever open all night long. I think it's a great place to live if you can deal with a lack of privacy and personal space. If you like sharing space and love being surrounded by people constantly, then I think it's a good place for you... but if you find that certain kinds of people (because we have ALL kinds) bother you, or make you feel uncomfortable... or someone in your personal space bugs you... or knowing that your neighbors can hear you or see through your window drives you crazy, then it's not the place for you.

And I don't think it's as expensive and people make it out to be. There are affordable ways to live here.
