Last I checked both were in the United States! Unless YOU are not a US citizen, then you do not need a passport. If you aren't a citizen, you might need whatever your legal form of ID is. My German grandmother carried her papers with her (like our passports/IDs) when she traveled. |

um no, if you were flying outside of the U.S. you would but within the U.S. you wouldn't. If they did then everytime you even drove over to the next state they would want to check your passport. |

No, unless you are from out of United States and don't have a drivers license of some other form of ID. Inter-state travel in the US does not require passports, but does require some for of ID. |

For travel within the U.S. you generally do not need a passport. You will have to show your driver's license or other picture ID at check in, security checkpoints and possibly again before boarding, depending on the airline. |

You need a photo ID. A passport will always suffice as will a driver's license, state photo ID, Military ID, etc. You do not need a passport for flights entirely within the US. |

ho!y_geebers and others are right in the case of Americans and aliens from the Visa Waiver program countries. However if you needed a visa to enter the USA then you must present it whenever transiting internally.
