No. American are taught too much fear, and are very eager to allow other to make decisions for them. We do have more freedom here than in many other countries, but we may never be free from the fear and judgment of those around us.

J P
Depends on how much money you have.

No. It's the land of " the rich get richer , and the poor get poorer""

jesse b
i will tell you what! if you DONT think that America is the land of the free, why dont you move to a communist country for a while. The government controls EVERYTHING!! We have soldiers dying every single day to make sure democracy prevails and still you think that we arent free!! I have an ultimatum for you LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!!!!

Freedom is such a relative term that it really depends on what you consider free. Does freedom mean the ability to pick and choose what you want to do with your life and do it the way you want to regardless of the mistakes you might make in doing so...then yes the United States is free.

conundrum_dragon
We only think it's free the monitor every move you make it's becoming like a Communist country

hotsing1
yes, sometimes a little to free though.

Well of course! We are free to travel where, when and how we want.We are free to work.We are free to choose how we worship. We're free to do almost anything.... as long as it doesn't go against any guidelines set forth by out government!

If anyone is interested in seeing just how free we are or how free we'll be in the very near future I urge you to go to
http://www.newswithviews.com/

Read, read and read some more!!!!.Arm yourselves with information and tell as many people as you can to also go to that site. Our future and the future of our children and grandchildren depend on what can be done to change what is secretly happening right now!

Times are changing. Too many crazy laws going into effect (e.g. no smoking in so-and-so city) that affects people in different ways. It still is "Land of the Free", but if things continue the way they are, soon it won't be. We will all have to follow rules, rules, and more rules!

chuco
no

MC Hummer
Before 1950, yes. Never since.

The idealism of the US has gone, replaced by self-worship and colonialism.

Ask a Cuban that would risk prision, drowning, starvation, and sharks to travel across 90 miles of open ocean in a raft. Ask a guy walking the DMZ in North Korea. Ask Iraqis who line up to get a job knowing some jackass my drive arround the corner with a bomb. Ask a person at a INS office who has jumped through all the hoops so they can raise their hand and be sworn in as a citizen. Ask the Yahoo morons who have the freedom to express their opinion good or bad on the message boards. Try that in China or Iran........

Jean A
In some ways america is the land of the free for example human rights, but we as a people have become bound to getting whatever it is that we want when we want, in this case we are not really free. We believe we don't have to work for something in order to obtain it, instead we use the courts to try and make money.

For now we are free.

I can drive whatever type vehicle I desire. But some of you out there are trying to take away that freedom.

I can educate my children in a public school, in a private school, in a church-based school, or in my home. Some of you would like to force me to relinquish my children to society for their education and thus relinquish my freedom to raise my children as I see fit.

I don't worry daily that I might be shot for my religious choices. Thank God for our military and strong national defense. Some of you would like to reduce them from the Might of the Nation to menial servants of the United Nations. In doing this, you may also be taking away my freedom to live and breath.

We are the Land of the Free. But many of you are selling our freedom one vote at a time.
