Yes, If you think about it , America is still the land of opportunity that it has always been. so there isn't one reason why It still can't be considered the greatest country on Gods Green earth. |

That all depends on a lot of things. I am an American, but I do not agree with the current state of affairs. Yes, it's *good* as we have lots to eat, friendly people (mostly) and it is beautiful. |

I think it is a sad place to live and I think we are an embarrassment. The past several Presidents have really f@%ked us up and I'm afraid we will never recover.
I would much rather be living in Africa! At least they are "real" people. |

Awesome Question......you deserve 10 pts just for asking it!!
I dont live there, but Im considering moving there
My fiancee is American....
I would love to stay here ( New Zealand ) but we just cant afford a home here.....
To me its seems such a vast land of contrasts not only in its people and origins.....but in its class system too
So many have too much ( food , resources )
So many have too little ( homeless ,poverty ,little education)....
Enjoying reading the posts......
Some um typically patriotic
Some broader...
Good for you putting it out there....
jammer> you have some pretty mean sharks there too cept they wanna put a cap in my *** for just being on the same sidewalk......winks |

Definitely. Despite all the political B.S. going on right now and a rising HIV rate and INFLATION looming, I think that its a great country. Either here, or England... I think anywhere else you'd find that you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth! <---Trust me on that! It happened to me.. lol. We are SPOILED, my friend... That's why I love it here. |

While far from perfect, it is still the best place to live. It is too bad that terrorists are causing Americans to have to go through so much for our own security. I do believe that America can certainly do better though..like help our own poor people more and make sure that victims like Hurricane Katrina do NOT wait so long for help and a place to live. I also believe that we can do better and the government should make sure that no one gets turned away for medical care because they have no insurance. Help our own first. |

Well i'm a filipino and i've been here last year and i think it's okay and it really depends on where you live and where part of the state you are in.I live in a rural area here in Richmond and i kinda didn't like the place because there are alot of crazy and illiterate people in here but i like some of the people because they are nice. When i was a kid,i thought that america was the land of opportunity but a lot of discrimination going on.It's good and bad at the same time. |

Wow!! What a great question!! And it invites a plethora of responses. The best response I can offer at this point in time is that I really don't know. Years ago I wouldn't have hesitated. I would have said that there is no better place on earth, but thanks to broken government in our country I'm not so sure anymore.
Granted, one can always say that the grass always looks greener, and I'm very aware of that, but lately I've been looking into places like Costa Rica, Panama, and even Canada. The first negative thing about Canada that pops into my head though is COLD. I don't like cold.
I think the next administration will be extremely important though. He/she will have to do one hell of a bang up job on foreign relations. We have some major global issues cropping up. Finishing in Iraq, dealing effectively with Iran, global warming, health care are all very important issues, and it will take a president who can restore trust and faith from other nations to help the world deal with problems like the middle east, the environment, conservation, etc. We face some very trying times, and I think that if we don't turn things around quickly it will likely be too late, which, in all likelihood, will mean that the good ole U.S. of A. isn't the best place in the world to live anymore. |

sure is .. just ask the illegal aliens, standing in front of Home Depot if its good ... but better ask them in simple spanish because the average illegal alien today only has a 3rd grade education and is mostly illiterate in his native language. |
