Do you think Las Vegas is going to go down in popularity? |
You can gamble anywhere now, I can't see how special Vegas will be in a few years. I think people will slowly stop going, I'd take my money out! |

Bet on it! Everything will change and at some point in time Las Vegas tourism will decline. |

This true a lot of places are now trying (keyword) to compete but all in all, no one and I repeat no one can beat the magic and feeling you get when you first arrive and see the beautiful strip.
I have beent there 3 times in the past 10 years and beleive me, this place is always changing and advancing to keep people coming back.
I am not a big gambler or drinker, I merely like to explore new and amazing plazes and this place is awesome. |

Las Vegas is the fastest growing city in the U.S. for the past decade and still has a lot of fuel to grow. |

Las Vegas is Disneyworld for grown ups - I think there will always be a need for it and I certainly won't stop going despite the fact it's an 11 hour flight! There's just something magical about going to Las Vegas, it's the history of the place, the bright lights, the 'adventure' of going to Las Vegas. I love it! |

Vegas is about more than gambling. Vegas has continued to reinvent themself over the years. If it continues to do that, then people will always come back to see what is new.
Back in the 1930, Vegas (and Reno) became popular because of gambling (and prostitution and easy marriages/divorces).
By the 1950's, they started building the resorts and bringing in big name entertainment. At this point, there was still gambling in many parts of the US. Most of it illegal, but very few people got busted for it.
It was popular through the mid 1970s when Atlantic City got gambling. That, and an oil shortage, hurt Vegas for a little while. Many people east of the Mississippi River went to AC instead. However, AC stayed the same, and Vegas started to rebuild itself. Many of the old casinos were destroyed and megaresorts took their place.
The one thing that Vegas has always done is that they keep changing to offer people what they want.
Nowadays, you have people who come to Vegas to not just gamble, but to shop, see the casinos, see the bright lights, see the free attraction, or go to a show. Yes, there are casinos in all parts of the country, but none of those places have a dancing water show, a volcano eruption, an excellent replica of Venice. You only find that in Vegas, and people want to see that stuff. |

No i don't; there has always been gambling everywhere, you can gamble anywhere in the state of nevada except boulder city.
Vegas is much more than about gambling, that is why it will never have an equal in the USA. this same argument was made back in 1976 when gambling became legal in atlantic city, the cynics said it was the end for las vegas, how right they were, lol
6.8 million visited las vegas in 1970, whereas 39 million visited in 2006 with room occupancy rates at 90% year round and that will rise again this year, so much for going down in popularity http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2007-02-14-las-vegas-tourism-record_x.htm back in 1989 cynics thought the boom at the time was unsustainable, no way we can continue attracting 17 million people a year to vegas, lol, again who right they were http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=950DE4DC1538F933A05756C0A96F948260&sec=&spon=&pagewanted=print
Vegas' only real competition comes in the form of Macau in China though i don't think it will affect vegas for about 10 years |

Have you ever talked with a European? That´s who loves Las Vegas. They are fascinated with the excess there-so many lights and energy wasted, so much food, drinks, women, etc.
I doubt it will ever not be popular...besides, the weather is great. |

never. no place in the u.s. could top las vegas. people from new jersey come here to gamble, not reno/lake tahoe or other dinky reservations. no place can offer the deals/shows/entertainment that we have here. |

When you say other cities have casinos you mean one or two .. or a few at the most ... Vegas is loaded with casinos. All the other casinos around the country only get their locals to experience the "gaming" world. They practice their gambling there and then come to to big time. VEGAS baby. No where in the world like it. NO WHERE!!!!!!!!! I'll keep my money here. |
