The government monitors casinoes so closely they know whenever a blackjack dealer farts. They don't cheat. They don't have to since the odds are in their favor.

Not in every way my friend. I live in Nevada and I pay no state income taxes. Not to mention great highways. Drive out of Nevada and into any other state and you'll see what I mean. They might be taking money from the suckers but it comes back to me. Thank you.

Not a rip off they are what they are. That is why they call it gambling. Steve Winn once said the only sure way to make money in a casino is to own one!
Strip clubs are a bigger rip off!

Casinos are entertainment, don't gamble more money than you can afford to lose.

In what way? are you saying they rip gambles off by using cheating tactics...Or the rooms and food are more expensive?

As far as the rooms and food.. yes.. they have gone up in price because the demand has gone up. Casino gambling has grown significantly in the past years, and so has the desire to stay the hotels attached to them.

But I dont think the casinos use any more unfare tactics with gamblers then they have at anytime before.

I think so. I lived in Las Vegas until about 6 months ago. I never gambled, even once, but I know a lot of people who do. It is amazing to me that people will take a trip there just to give their money away. It works out well for people who live there though. There are no state income taxes there, because of the taxes the casinos pay.

Casinoes run their businesses as legal as any other. BUT don't forget, they're after a profit like any other business as well.
The games are not designed to make people rich, Vegas didn't get this fabulous on winners.
So, no, it isn't a rip off......try Disneyland, now THAT'S a ripoff. $5 for a $1 cup of coffee.

i wouldn't say rip off. nobody's forced to hand their money over.
there is ONE casino in montreal and it is owned by the quebec government. i think it's a great way for the gov't to make money. it's like a voluntary tax. the revenue can then be spent to keep other taxes down. i say there should be higher taxes on cigarettes as well then reduce taxes on things like food & books.
let's make a smarter healthier society for our children.

I just love going to Las Vegas, all those free shows that the gamblers pay for.
The Balagio fountain is my favorite, Cesar's Palace has the most awesome collection of replicated marble statues anywhere, the sinking pirate ship is also good.
It has been a while since I went, so I am sure that there will be a lot for me to see that is completely new when I go back!
