Its projected to come this way on about tuesday so its good to be prepared. But anything can happen. Hopefully it will not cause any major issues. Friday is the annivesary of Katrina so we really dont need any other reminders.

I hope not. N.O.L.A. is the BEST CITY IN THE USA! I plan on moving there in November.
Just keep on tracking it. I will keep y'all in my prayers!!

Check again in 4 days. That is too far away to be able to accurately predict the path to New Orleans. They predicted Fay would go up the West Coast of Florida and it cut across through Lake Okeechobee. Hurricanes are unpredictable beyond 24 hours. That's why I moved from Tampa. Too nerve wracking.

Okay, seriously... it is WAY too soon for anyone to start panicking!
By all means, have a hurricane plan- stock up on various supplies in case bad weather comes and you are at home with out electricity, access to a store, etc.
Its also a good idea to have an evacuation course- make arrangements with friends/family members who live out of town that you could stay with in case of emergency.
That being said, Gustav is still SO far away that even with all the projections, no one knows anything yet.
Hope for the best
Prepare for the worst
Stay calm regardless :) |

I live in Houma. The best advice I could give is to continue watching the weather and prepare. Prepare to evacuate or if you are planning to stay, stock up on supplies. As for me, I'm getting the hell out of here. I was here for Andrew as a child and that is it. I always leave. And just so you know if you do leave. DO NOT believe what you hear on the news. My parents and most of my family stayed and I think it was CNN that was saying in the reports that everyone in NOLA was going to die. I was a wreck. My family is South of NOLA so I just knew they were going to be dead. Well they weren't and neither was all of NOLA. Just remember that storms are serious and not a time for parties and you should be fine. |

I can understand your fear, but I wouldn't panic just yet. However, I would definitely prepare just in case. Not only is that the wise thing to do, but making preparations will keep you occupied and stave off panic.
Definitely do keep an eye on Gustav. If he does hit New Orleans, it might not be pretty. However, it's too soon to say he will for sure.
There's a great section of links for tracking Gustav on http://www.USAMediaGuide.com. It has links to the projected path of the storm, National Hurricane Center coverage, local TV and newspaper coverage, live webcams, and other Gustav stuff. |

I am in Luling and all I can suggest it to watch the weather. We are planning to make a decision by Friday night or Saturday morning on what we should do. I know that my OB said that I need to leave if it is headed this way since I am pregnant with twins. Good luck! |

They often hit where they're predicted, but not always by any means. Katrina was expected to hit Florida. That said, I really think Gustav will come our way. =( Prepare! And good luck. |

I live in Baton Rouge and yes I am a little worried. I am trying to stay calm but everyone is in panic it seems. I mean there are already no batteries, bread, water or generators to be found or atleast not last night. I haven't even prepared. Good Luck |
