Does Universal or Islands of Adventure shut down their rides when it rains?

I'm going soon and the wheather in Florida right now is rainy as it is hurricane/tropical storm season. So, I just wanted to know if they shut down the park, refund your tickets for another time to come or simply close down a few outside rides.

Thanks! ;D

Just because it is hurricane season doesn't mean we have six months of hurricanes. You'll know if there is tropical weather predicted at least a few days in advance if not more. It's not just going to sneak up on you while you are here. We do get almost daily rain showers during the summer, but this early in hurricane season it's very rare to see any tropical activity.

And no, they aren't going to shut the park down just because it rains. If they do shut the parks down, however, because of a hurricane (rarely they do this) you will not get a rain check. They do not have a weather calamity refund policy.

love_story
in disney world most of their rides are inside so they dont close those..
but the festival of lion king in animal kingdom closes because they have people performing and hanging off the ceilings

they close the outdoor attractions as well...
splash mountain stays open until it starts thundering
they dont usually refund your ticket but if you wait 20 mins or so the rain stops and people come out again

they close down a few outside rides..

unless it starts storming really badly that's when you see people running with their ponchos.
but they won't return your money, but you can wait until the rain stops. :]

They shut down some but not all. Most of the rollercoasters in universal shut down when it rain especially when it's thunder in the area. But other rides like spiderman and and the terminator will still be open.

List of rides that usually stay open:
Spiderman
Terminator
Return of the Mummy
Disaster
Twister
Posedion's Fury
The Cat in the Hat
Shrek 4-D
Men in Black
E.t Adventure
Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast
The Simpson's Ride

Orlando typically has brief rains in the late afternoon, some of the outdoor rides may shut down or a while, but all the shows, shops & indoor rides continue to operate.

In case of an acutal hurricane, the parks shut down completely, but that's a very rare occurance & you'd have plenty of warning.

I've been to Sea World in the rain - - it was less crowded & a lot of fun.

:o)

They do on some rides...they will NOT refund your ticket due to weather.

if it rains the park is still open--if there is a thunderstorm they will shut down the rollercoasters.~~

They can close the outdoor rides when thunder and lightning is at a close radius, because it becomes un-safe. Mainly they will close the roller coasters. Once they have gone away they will open them again.

But I've been on Dueling Dragons while raining (very fun). Just as long and there aren't any lightning they will be open.

Pagan Mama
Yes they will. They do not refund your tix. However, we found that while it rained every single day while we were in FL, the rainstorms came hard and fast. Within half an hour it passed and they reopened rides. If your willing to stick it out and catch a show it will be worth it, everyone else will leave and you will have quick access to rides.

If it starts to thunder and lightning, yes.

VDub
They usually just shut down the rides until it stops raining. They don't refund your ticket, sorry! But since I live in florida I can tell you that it usually rains everyday around 3 or 4 pm.

Tweekster
Rain has nothing to do with the closing of a ride. Only lightening in the area will close the ride.
Any lightening within 5 miles, and all outside rides shut down until it passes. But, that usually is within 30 minutes.
Riding a coaster in the rain just gives you a whole new thrill, and the lines get much shorter for them.
Have fun.......

They shut down some rides, depending on how they are built, but they do keep some open. In most of the parks they dont give you refunds for rainy days though.

I was there a few years back at this time. When it's just rain they don't shut things down. It's when thunder and lightning get too close that they shut rides down. It rained a few times when we were there and we still managed to get on everything that we wanted to. I do know that you will NOT get a refund because of the weather though, given that it's not something that is under their control.

Supekuta-kun
If I'm not mistaken, they shut down SOME. Because with certain ones, the water from rain may cause it to loosen or something. I"m not entirely sure, but I can guarantee to you that some of them will not be available.
