No need to get touchy with additional details, just because of the wisecracks. Las Vegas is much more than just the downtown and the Strip! That's just what the tourists see. It's like New Orleans being lots more than just the French Quarter. You can drive for hours through it, never going into Henderson, and see nothing but private homes! If you can access Google Earth, zoom in on Las Vegas. You'll be surprised at how huge the metropolitan area is, and it's more homes than casinos! It's also got as many shopping centers -and slums- as any big city.

Yes, the hotel/casino area is a relatively small part of the city. Also, it's among the fastest growing cities in the country.

Yes people can live there. Do you think the people that work there disappear when they are off the clock? There are also a lot of people that work in Las Vegas and line next door in Henderson. So many that it is now the second largest city in Nevada.
It is a great place to live. I wish I could of moved there when I had the opportunity.

Yes they do. Most of the residential areas are off the Strip, though..

Outside of the Strip are neighborhoods that are world class. Anthem, Green Valley, Summerlin to name just a few. Of course there are rougher areas- just like any city in america. I moved here 25 years ago...best thing I ever did. Just remember that it gets really hot in the Summer! I just plop into the pool in the backyard and then BBQ all that time.

No. It has been the fastest growing city in america for 12 of the last 14 years but there doesn't happen to be any residential areas. I hope this helps.
