Does anybody else hate south florida as much as I do?

I grew up in the west palm beach area, went to college in tallahassee (FSU) and now live in baltimore for grad school and i absolutely HATE coming home to south florida. people think i'm crazy.

i can't stand the humidity, rain, old people, immigrants (i appreciate the ones that have learned the language and are holding their own), rudeness, lack of education, and the general snootiness exhibited by people of the area (especially the people with no education spending their entire income on a leased BMW).

although baltimore ain't the greatest, i do like the seasons, educated people, history, and washington dc.

does anybody feel the same way i do about south florida?? please tell me i'm not crazy!!

Ok- maybe hate is a bit of an exaggeration. I guess I should have asked "hate to live" ,, i think it's a fine place to vacay because the beaches, shopping, and women are nothing short of amazing.... but to live?

South Florida is boring. I live in Miramar which is around Pembroke Pines and Hollywood and there's nothing to do here anymore. I was born and raised here and I'm getting tired of it now. It's to hot here and winter is similar to summer except you get a cold front once in a while. The beaches are boring now since you've been to them over a ton of times. The people here drive like retards especially around Ives Dairy Road going to Aventura Mall. The only good thing to do here is hang out with friends and go to the movies. I'm 17 years old and I'm a senior in high school and as soon as I graduate in June I'm outta this damn place. After I move I will never ever move back to South Florida.

I hate it here in Miami soooooo much. I live in Hialeah. The people are rude and it's beyond dirty no matter where i go. It's too hot too. I honestly cant see why people like it here so much. I want to move somewhere quieter and colder where people aren't so rude.

Liams mom on May 20th.
Don't worry i'm with you on this. I lived in Boca Raton for most of my life. Graduated high school and ended up finishing up College at FAU. I originally went to school in Connecticut but came back and finished in Fl. I hate the humidity. I hate the hot weather. I'm currently living in the UK with my husband. I love the changing of seasons. I could go to florida to visit but I would never live there again. Let's just say I don't miss the terrible drivers and hopping into my car and burning my hands on the steering wheel from the afternoon heat.

Wouldn't want to live there...but it is a nice place to vacation. West Palm Beach, yeah, not so great. Boca Raton is worse though. As far as South Florida goes...Fort Meyers and Sanibel ROCK!

educated people dont say "aint" btw. yes there is a lot of what you said but baltimore is horrible as well. i think you probably felt very small here and found a bit of recognition there and now everything is in the proportion you say. it is never so skewed except in our small meaningless minds. south florida is a much better community than baltimore (which is truly a terrible city) i feel bad for you since you had to move so far away to find a little acceptance

South Florida is a great place to live if you are in the service industry and/or the mafia.

Other than that the beaches are the best in the country, so if you are a beach-goer and don't mind rude, stuck-up people, come on down.

I love Miami. It's a beautiful place to live. People are rude in most big cities, so I don't see that as a huge problem. DC is cool too, but it doesnt have the sun, beaches, and beautiful women. ha ha. All cities have pros and cons, you just have to know which factors matter to you most.

not important
i totally get you. the only thing i have in s. fl is my parents and siblings but as soon as i finish my bachelors they are joining me in cali.

well i have other family but not immediate.
i totally get you, especially the 2nd paragraph and LMAO at the car thing cause its sad but true.

youre not crazy but s. fl is ok to visit for a week 2 weeks max. i didnt mind growing up here but i would not live here forever

I don't hate it here. I hate the snow though, and I'd rather be in the heat and humidity than where you slip and slide on ice and snow. I also don't want to live where everyone looks and talk exactly like I do. I appreciate diversity instead of being fearful of it. Baltimore is OK I guess. Much smaller, maybe it does have a longer history than South Florida, but it certainly doesn't have more history. If you think that than sadly, you never learned much about the history of South Florida. And you are painting people with a wide brush when you assume everyone spends their entire income on a leased BMW. I've never leased, owned or even driven a BMW and neither do any of my friends or neighbors. South Florida isn't everyone's cup of tea, even to those born and raised here but for those of us who appreciate the very things you despise it's like heaven on earth. Sounds like you've found the place you are supposed to be.

I don't know why I am answering this question..........

I live in Miami and I have travel around the world a lot constantly.
there is no other city in the world more beautiful than Miami.
( have been in Paris.London ,Madrid ,Monaco.Roma ,Brunei,Berlin,New York,Los Angeles.Washington,Mexico City/Mexico.Buenos Aires ,Rio de janeiro /Brazil,Fortaleza,Punta del este. Jerusalen/Israel, Australia ,Bacelona /spain,mikos,etc,etc,)

You can live happy among those Highly educated people, You are mentioning, but I don't feel (by the way You write) that You are "so,very nice"

chelsea
i live in miami and i Absolutely love it. maybe where you lived just sucked..so i think its very naive of you to say the whole south area of florida is bad. and btw you shouldn't talk about immigrants like that their people too and i think if they came here its to have a better life and people like you aren't making it any easier.

I don`t hate south FL, I enjoy a vacation there but would never want to live there, as you say the heat and humidity is unbearable. I am from the northeast and tho I despise the winters, I love the change of seasons. Beside the beaches and ocean Florida has nothing to offer in the way of scenery. It`s a great vacation spot, but to live there year around...no way.
