Does anyone know any good places in MI to travel?

Maybe with shops and by the beach? Antique shops! (I collect license plates...www.colinspl8s.zoomshare.com) We want to go on a one day trip maybe this week.

Thanks!

there are some great places here and i would be biased to list only my favorites. to be fair i would say that all of the suggestions above are excellent-you cant go wrong with any of them so far.

Two good resources for you are www.michigan.gov and www.visitdetroit.com-both have a ton of information

on www.michigan.gov if you go to the department of natural resources (DNR) there will be more options than you can explore in a year, lol-a pretty unique experience is Sleeping Bear but i think you have to stay overnight and no antique shops, just the chance to be at one with nature.

on www.visitdetroit.com there are multiple resources for southeastern michigan.

Either way enjoy the home of FIVE great lakes!

i hope this helps

Theres tons of great places to go:
*Mackinaw Island(my favorite!)
*Leelanaw peninsula-its by traverse, and it has a lot of pretty beaches and little shops
*Traverse city
*Gaylord
*Holland
*Frankenmuth
*Soo Locks up by Sault St. Marie
*Upper Peninsula is BEAUTIFUL

Here's a site that has a list of antique shops in MI:
http://www.antiqueshopsa2z.com/michigan.htm

Hope that helped and have a GREAT vacation!!!

Almost anywhere up north. West Branch, Grand Blanc, Frankenmooth, Traverse City. Michigan Adventure has a nice water park.

Port Austin is a great little area, as well as Traverse City. I don't know if you'd be up for the upper peninsula, but Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is up there and absolutely beautiful! The water is sooo clear and cool. It's kind of secluded, but you can drive to Marquette from there which is another great little town that has some shops. They have some really great beaches there too if you don't have time for Pictured Rocks.
I haven't been there in a long time, but I remember Bay City having cute shops, and it's close to lake Huron.

o i lived in MI all my life
if you are looking 4 antique shops try
Traverse City,Bloomfield hills,Detroit especially
If your looking for places that look like they jumped out of a hollywood movie try Bloomfeild hills again..Lansing...and Lake Saint Claire
you should also try places on the coast of the lakes..especially the ones that face canada..they have the best sites

I'd go to Traverse City. They have lots of great stores, big and small. My grandma lives near there, and everyone there is soooo friendly.

If want to go to the East side of the Lower Penisula go to Frankenmuth or the Sleeping Bear Dunes. If you are going to the West side go to Detroit.
