I don't think so , In fact people that had left and moved out to the suburb's are coming back in now .. The inner loop is the place to live .. I referring to loop 610.. Thing's are moving up here, Mid Town is the place to be, or that's what they say , The Heights is nice also ..

There are so many houses for sale because they are building so many new condo's ..

Yes, they all want to move out to Katy, Sugarland, Bellaire, the Woodlands, etc
This is a dumb answer to a vague question. Our real estate prices have historically been lower than much of the Nation. This is true for a number of reasons, one being that there continues to be large supply of homes and a large resource of cheap labor.
People are not moving out of the Houston area as a whole just yet. The continue to come here for jobs in a market that seems to keep growing for mostly unclear reasons.

No. Houston is just a dynamic city with lots of happenings. I moved from there and I can't wait to move back.

Cheaper houses are NOT because people are leaving. In fact, we're building them as fast as we can. What we do have is cheap labor (which is about half the cost of a home), no zoning (allows builders to create subdivisions instead of single homes), and a six hundred square mile geographical area (City of Houston only, over 800 square miles if you include suburb satellite cities like Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, the Woodlands, Stafford, Clear Lake, Pearland, et cetera). In other words, it is a buyer's market.

Oh, another area with quality homes and low cost, some of Fort Worth's suburbs. Cheaper than Houston.

Houston is very cosmopolitain, growing steadily ( a house is considered old at 10. Oil industry is a huge business therefore many expatriates etc, so people are moved around the world a lot

Just to give full disclosure, I recently moved out of Houston. Home prices, however, are shifting downward in many cities. Houston had really low real estate prices to begin with, but it's becoming a buyer's market everywhere for now. Probably because of the increase in interest rates. Also, there seems to be a lot of new subdivisions popping up around Houston and with all of these housing options, people are not willing to pay as much to buy a home.

That is great for me! We plan on moving in to the Houston area in the next 5 months or so - I definitely don't want to market to go up yet!! Wait until I buy it for cheap!! Our real estate here in MN is out of control expensive, I'll make out like a fat rat (we built 14 years ago - we have a lot of equity), but couldn't afford to buy anything "bigger" -- as it is -- I could barely afford to buy mine back!!
Houston here I come - I can get a house at LEAST twice as big as my little one here...with a pool...and with MUCH nicer winters!!!

My husband who is Scottish and I (American from California) moved here this past December, from Scotland. We came to Houston to stay, and make our home here. Houston is very cosmopolitan and the Southern hospitality is for real.

The prices of the homes are affordable because the city is expanding steadily. Please believe me, no one is moving out of Houston, on the contrary people are moving in, especially from Europe. And everyone I spoke to, who made the choice to live here, has only words of praise about Houston. So do I.

Just me.
The entire RE market is horrible right now. Same problem in Florida. You can thank that stupid guy from Crawford, TX and that stupid war in Iraq.
