Does the city of Las Vegas ever close?

no

Nope, most things are open 24/7. Businesses close at business hours, but anything on the strip is usu open 24 hours. Some retail stores on the strip will close at midnight but otherwise it's 24/7, 365.

No they are open 24-7. When I was there I noticed that if repairs were done on anything they partitioned off a section of the casino late at night and did maintenance then. Otherwise everything is up and running. I had a fun time...didn't get much sleep because I didn't want to miss anything though.

To answer your question specifically, yes, the governmental offices of the City of Las Vegas operate on a 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday schedule pretty much like any other city in the U.S. Pretty much every other answer posted to your question is true. Casinos are 24 hours as well as bars. Retail is usually not 24 hours except for supermarkets, convenience stores and a few hotel gift shops.
Correction: The marriage license bureau in Las Vegas, as of last August, is no longer 24 hours.

no.

Negative. Las Vegas is the city that never sleeps. Casinos are always open as well as many 24 hour restaurants,

DodgerBlue42
Of course not, that's what's so great about it.

NO - it once observed a break during the Kennedy assination and funeral, however

never

The casinos never close and many restaurants are open 24/7. The Deue runs 24/7.

However, many things do close. Most of the fast food restaurants inside the hotels close around 11:00 (the fatburger and McDs are 24h). Most stores close around 10PM (midnight on the weekend). The Bellagio fountains have their last show around 11:00. Access to the Eiffel tower is closed at 12:30. The buffets close around 10PM, most coffee shops are 24h. The monorail closes at 3AM.

But for the most part, it feels like it never closes.

Does any city actually ever close? You can get almost anything you need 24/7 in this town. While the malls and most chain stores close at typical times, everything from casinos, restaurants, bars to Wal-Mart stays open all the time.

Granted, things are quieter after midnight around town, since those who work days have to sleep at some point, you wouldn't notice it very much inside a casino.

When I first moved here, I was exhausted after unloading and unpacking stuff all day and I needed a shower before I went to bed - but the apartment I rented didn't have a shower door and I had no idea which of the remaining cartons had the shower curtain in it. We went to Wal-Mart at 3am and bought a shower liner and I was stunned by the amount of people shopping at that time of the day. It's hard to stun me in this town now :-)

The marriage license place is no longer open 24 hrs. a day. Otherwise Las Vegas is always open.
