Fellow Americans, if you had the chance to move to Italy for a year would you take it?

Just for a year, you wouldn't be leaving the US forever.
I'm 18 and am doing just that next summer...whats your opinions on this?
Thanks :)

Of course!!!! Jump on that chance like white on rice. Take the opportunity to learn the culture, language, and sample what REAL Italian food is supposed to taste like. Try and stay away from the tourist traps, and get out into the countryside, but experience all that Italy has to offer.

Val
Do it; Learn a little Italian before you go. If you can't learn a little Italian, go anyway. Be sure you have done your research befor you go. That way you can plan what you want to see. Happy travels.

I would LOVE to do that, and I regret not doing something like that now that I'm out of high school and about to graduate from college.

Hope you have a great time!

BigPapaP
Not just yes, but heck yes!
I would love it....I think that you should do it...you are young and it could be an experience of a lifetime that you can relate to your friends for years.

Grandma
duh...yes?

It will be such a great experience for you.You will be able to explore the country and learn all about their colture and lifestyle over there.I'm so happy for you. You will have a wonderful time. Good Luck And Stay Safe. I always wanted to go to Italy.I'm so jealous:).

I would visit but I am so happy where I live now, I would never leave. I like it right here in the USA but then again, that's just me. Italy is one of the only places outside the US I would want to see. I hear it's absolutely beautiful. I think you should go for it.

I definately would! I could be the chance of a lifetime for you, because when you go to college and start a life, you may become too busy... and then next time you'll have free time is when you're old and retired, and who woud want to go check out all the cute Italians at that age? EW!
Go while you're young and beautiful! :D

MentalCaseMaggot
If I was still 18, then yes....good to see other places! Otherwise, now, I wouldn't.I don't speak a tick of Italian..funny. My co-worker is leaving for Rome on Saturday, hehe :)

Nope, I have no desire to leave the United States at all. Foreign places don't appeal to me.

?
Move!! Go!! Get your butt on the first plane out, or boat going out. Enjoy!! Learn!! And when you bring your education back to America, IF you return to America, make your education work for you to get a great university education or some other education to make you a responsible adult in the years ahead. Go for it, young lady!! God Bless you.

In my situation, I wouldn't because my fiance is moving here from Japan and it's just not a good move for me. If I were 18 and just starting my life, then yeah, I would jump at that. It really sounds like a wonderful opportunity. You won't get many more like it as you get older, so take it now and have fun. Life's too short not to be happy.

warriorwoman
I agree with the "hell yes" folk. Damn, do it!

No offense, but I really wouldn't take it because America is such a beautiful place with Air Conditioning, Electricity, and such kind people, especially in the South-West. I still don't know alot about Italy, but I am still sure that I would stay in the US. No pressure! And have a great time & trip to Italy!
