lots of hotel/casinos have specials, check a few websites. Food is cheap because of the many specials, and most casinos have some free things to do to kill some time.
Not sure which ones are the best lately, but a number of years back I stayed at Circus,Circus and had a fine time, on the cheap too.
Do yourself a favour and check out some current websites. I'd google; "vegas cheap" and see what comes up.
here, this should get you started...

Vegas Bound

*Bring good walking shoes
*Bring chapstick (trust me)
*Bring nice attire if you plan to hit any big nightclubs
*Don't do the timeshare tours for free coupons. It will totally ruin your vacation!!
*Stay in a cheaper hotel off of the strip. You won't spend much time in your hotel room anyways
*Don't stay longer then 3 nights
*Only see old Vegas if you are there for 3 nights or more
*Budget at least $200 a day per person to blow
*Gamble in the smaller casinos
*Sun to Thurs are the cheapest air+hotel packages
*Learn how to play Pai Gow Poker if you want your gambling $$ to last longer
*Always play the Max on the Slot machines
*Never Play Keno,,,odds are way against you
*Watch and/or record all of the Vegas Shows on the Travel Channel,,,great info |

Vegas is the best ever!
We stayed in the Treasure Island (TI) Its a brill hotel and I found it to be in the best location.
Most of the casions are the same, I played roullette most of the time (which was not a lot!), I did play on a slot machine and I put in $0.05 and won $120!
You have to go the Grand C. There is also a really huge shopping mall behind the TI Hotel - where most of my money went! Also you have to go to the Stratosphere hotel and see Vegas at night from the viewing tower, we also did the rides on top - they are scary!
Check out the resident shows also they are out of this world.

You will never be bored in Las Vegas. Not only is it affordable, and very luxurious but full of activities. You don't have to gamble or have a lot of money to have a great time.
Here is a list of free attractions

Remember to see the Bellagio fountains and Fremont street at night.

Depends how long you want to stay, if you’d like to see the deserts and area surrounding the city of Vegas in Nevada, then save yourself a lot of money and stay outside the city, and rent a car so you can travel in every day. We stayed in the Luxor when we went, but we were only there for 3 days so it wasn’t too expensive.
As for casinos, all of Vegas’s gambling centres are governed by the same regulations now so nowhere should be ‘unfair’, however for better odds of winning, make sure you play in hotel casinos (pretty much all of the casinos are owned by the giant hotels). This is because they make most of their money from their rooms and food, and gambling isn’t their primary income so their machines pay out more! (As for real card games, there is no difference really).
If you want to visit the Red Rock Canyon, book a helicopter now but bear in mind how expensive it can be. You can visit other canyons, not so impressive but still good, by car – which I recommend so make sure you rent a good car. And if you win at the casino, you may just go for it and book the Red Rock tour. I know somebody who bet $100 on a roulette game and his rare number came up and the winnings paid for his whole vacation! Just don’t expect the same and lose more than you can afford… |

One thing to remember if you are not into watching topless women dancing don't go to just any musical the hotel recommends, ask first because that is the "highlight" of a lot of the numbers in Vegas, your hubby will love it though...;) |

If you are going to go on the cheap and want to be on the strip. I would look at the Tropicana. The Circus Circus is too far north from all the action. The Trop is right by the NYNY, Luxor, Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand to name a few. It may be a bit older but the rooms are clean, the staff nice and great deals can be had.
If I could stay anyplace I wanted, I would try the Paris. That would be more romantic if that is what you are looking for. I have read to ask for a room overlooking the front so you can see the Bellagio fountain show right from your room.
My hubby and I rode the gondola ride at the Venetian and I will always remember that....
For dining I liked the Toby Keith I Love This Bar & Grill. There is also a cool Margaritaville there.
My fave casino to walk around in is NYNY. Lot's to see and a quicker, cheaper food area set up like Greenwich village is very cool to hang around at. |

SET A GAMBLING BUDGET!!!!! Each day give each of you a set amount of money to drop and that is it. I use the two bucket system. Starting money in top bucket and every time I cash out, I put that money in the bottom bucket. When the top bucket is empty, check out your bottom bucket to see how much you've won. The majority of hotels give gambling classes....Fun. Gamble where you like the atmosphere the best, they all have pretty much the same odds. Lady Luck doesn't stay in the same spot all the time =D (I really like the Bellagio....it smells like a summer garden and the drinks are awesome!)
This is your first time....STAY ON THE STRIP in the middle!!!! The traffic is far too heavy to give you time to look at a map or program "TomTom". The only taxi you'll need is to go to Freemont Street one night (A MUST) To stay centrally located, think Excaliber it may be one of the cheapest. (You'll probably only sleep in your room, so much to do) We stay at the MGM or NYNY very often. Awesome location for newbee's .... Always clean and very well decorated rooms, and the cusotmer service is great! Also depending on how much you gamble, their players clubs are joined with several hotels giving you more time to accumulate comps toward your room and meals (join the players club at every casino you can, lots of free stuff....don't forget to give you card to the dealer or put in slot machine and then don't forget to take it OUT =D)
Shows.....A Cirque De Sole production (Karr, Zoomanity(adults only and very funny and amazing), etc) are phenomenal!!!! They just put in a complete replica of the Pantages Theatre in Toronto exclusively for the Phantom of the Opera.....if you've never seen this or have and love it....ya gotta go! Your hotel Conciere (sp?) will set all the shows up for you, including trips to the canyon.
Really you just need a flight and hotel to start with. Just taking in the sites for the first time is going to exhaust you. Expand your walk every day and you'll see just about every thing. Do a flight/hotel search combo on Expedia or Travelocity and get a feel for what you are going to pay. It does get chilly in Vegas so the pools do close for the winter months (and some of the pools are a site in themselves (so if this is important to you, keep that in mind for your travel dates). Hot in the rest but alot of the hotels put out misters to keep you cool while walking on the strip. Walking around and seeing the sites and eating and gambling will consume you for days. Bring super comfortable shoes!!!! Thats what you'll be in most of the time. Maybe one or two nicer outfits for a show or nice dinner and shorts, t-shirts and a light jacket or sweater.
Relax, don't overplan, Vegas evolves. Enjoy! |

Don't forget to try out any of the shopping malls, located slighlty off the "strip", usually a bus ride away if you don't have a rent a car.
Also use any 2 for 1 tickets, free buffet, free this and that you may have in your hotel room, they are worth trying.......also do take in at least one big Las Vegas show, it is a few years since I was there, but I saw Tom Jones, SigFried and Roy, I would love to have seen Elvis............but then you never know you might just!!!!............Enjoy the trip wish I was with you!! |
