1. I was in my cubicle doing work on the 22nd floor of the Tower in Burbank.
2. I closely watched the plate glass windows, preparing to dive under the desk if the shaking got bad.
3. Yes, I tried calling my wife, and 3 kids who have cell phones. Circuits were busy, so I TEXTED them. Creative solution, eh?
4. I went online in seconds to the USGS web site..
5. No damage. (watch the dangling participles)
6. I stayed calm. I've been through 2 major quakes and half a dozen moderate ones.
7. Only a 2
8. I'm already prepared: We stocked the RV with water, clothing, non-perishible food, etc.
9. Sure, it's always a "wake-up" call. But too many people keep hitting the "snooze" button. |

1. My room, in bed, sleeping. The shaking woke me up.
2. No. I stayed sitting on my bed. I suck.
3. No. I went back to sleep.
4. No! I went back to sleep!
5. Yes. My room was a mess! All kind of stuff in total disarray. (Whew, I'm glad I have something to blame being messy to.)
6. Annoyed. I just went to bed two hours before the quake, and it woke me up.
7. 2, maybe 3 if I was totally awake while it was happening.
8. I should be doing something, but I can't think of any right now. I live on the top floor anyway. I suck.
9. Well it was certainly a wake-up call for me! Literally. |

1.) Sitting on the ground in my room by a desk.
2.) No, I didn't do much because I wasn't sure if it was actually and earthquake yet (I live farther north from the epicenter)
3.) No.
4.) Turned on the radio and heard about it.
5.) I'm sure the big crack in my garage from earthquakes worsened and the fish tank water in my tank sloshed all over.
6.) I stayed calm, I never panic when there's an earthquake, they aren't so bad unless you're in a brick building.
7.) It was a 3 here. Kinda weak compared to what I'm used to.
8.) I'm not sure yet, maybe secure my glasses in the cupboards somehow.
9.) Yes, people need to understand that Earthquakes happen in SO. Cal and they need to be prepared for the "big one" It also helps people become aware of the fact that schools and other facilities need to be practicing their drills for earthquakes just in case.
VERY IMPORTANT=
NEVER EVER stand in a door way when an earthquake is occurring, this is dangerous in older houses as the door frame may come down and knock you unconscious. I learned this in my geology class and hope that people pass this around!!! |
