Ok, here is my Disney advice... sorry about how long it is going to be... but you asked : )
~stay on Disney property so you can take advantage of all the extras like, free Disney transportation, Extra Magic Hours which allows admission to certain parks before they open to the general public or after they close to the general public, and free package delivery to your room, so if you make a purchase in the World you do not have to lug it around with you... they will deliver it to your hotel.
~If price is a major thing and a reason you would consider staying off property reconsider staying in the Pop Century Resort. Rooms start at $82 a night, and that resort does not share Disney transportation with any other hotels. The 3 All-Star Resorts share a bus, which means that at peak times like opening and closing you will be crammed on.
~Again, if you can afford it book tickets with the Park Hopper option. A regular Base ticket will allow admission to one park a day, the Park Hopper will allow you to enter multiple parks a day. (The water parks are not included with either ticket unless you purchase the Water Park option).
~Make sure you devote at least a day to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. MGM at best is only a half day kind of park, and Animal Kingdom (in my opinion) isn't really all it is made out to be. With the Hopper option you can do Epcot in the morning and MGM in the evening.
~Hang around the parks long enough to catch the evening fireworks. The crowds are a nightmare to deal with when exiting the park, but Disney really does put on a great fireworks show.
~Pleasure Island is closing, but you can still head to Downtown Disney. We go to Downtown Disney on the day we check in. That way when we don't check in until the afternoon we aren't wasting a day in the parks for only a half day. Downtown Disney does not require admission tickets and is open until 11pm.
~Outside water is allowed into the parks, so if you can bring water in with you... prices on food and drinks are expensive inside the parks. Disney's fountain water has a "unique" taste to it, so we carry Kool-Aid single serving pouches to mix in to mask the taste.
~If you are flying there throw an empty duffel bag into your luggage. You won't have to check an extra bag on the way there, but you will have the space in case you go crazy with souveniers. If you don't need it for purchases you can shove it bag in the luggage, it takes up no room and you are good to go.
~Make sure you bring at least one extra pair of socks and shoes in case you get wet from rain or a water ride. Nothing is worse than soggy shoes for the next few days.
~Bring pants and a light jacket or sweatshirt... it can get cool there, especially at night... and we have been there before when it has been freezing.
~Other than that make sure you have extra batteries for a camera, memory cards, chargers, phone chargers and so on. Anything you forget at home can be purchased in the World, but it will cost a heck of a lot more. 4 AA batteries are around $10. |

The best suggestion is to stay at one of the Disney resorts for your stay. Park the car once or use the Disney courtesy shuttle from the airport and your are set for the length of your stay, just use the Disney transportation to get around. Plus by staying at the resorts you get early and extended hours at the park. If you plan on taking part in the Disney character dinners, you will save alot of money purchasing the meal plan. Most important is to make reservation for the sit down character dinners now. If you don't make them now you will not get in. Some may already be booked up. Book Chef Mickey, you will get the biggest bang for your buck if you are paying cash. The princess dinner at the Grand Floridian is also worth it. The Dinner a the royal table in the palace not so much. But with the meal plan you don't have to worry about the price. Also if you plan on purchasing the Photo Pass do it before you go, you will save alot of money. I am now stuck trying to find a promo code to get a discount after the fact. Have a Great Time |

Run out to your local book store and buy a copy of "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World". Depending on the time of your trip, the 2009 edition may be available. This was the best $20 I spent in preparation for my family's July 2008 vacation. The touring plans in the book were well worth it. We never spent more than 10-15 minutes waiting in line for any attraction, and we went during one of the more busy times of the year! The book also gives numerous tips to planning your trip (much more than could be listed here), hotels, places to eat in and out of Disney World, and other things you'll want to know. |

The best advice that I got from a Disney Vacation Club member I work with is that you can't over plan. So do as much as you can BEFORE you go. We used the sites shown below which all have great info. There are probably hundreds to choose from. If you plan on having a sit down dinner at any of the resort or theme park restaurants you need to call yesterday, but you can try ASAP, 1-407-WDW-DINE.
If you go in December, the area is incredibly busy once Christmas break begins all the way through New Years Day.
We just got back from there and we spent an entire day at each of the parks and two at EPCOT. We just kind of skimmed through the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood studios because the parks here in California are very similar. We stayed on Disney property and had access to the buses but we rented a car because we felt it would save us time. Parking is also free for Disney guests.
So, in closing, we had everything mapped out and things ended up taking less time than we planned so we were able to play it more by ear as we neared the end of our time there. The thing I couldn't get over though is how incredibly huge everything is.
Have a wonderful trip! |

We used this wonderful planning service called Custom Mouse Plans. They did all of our plans and dining reservations. We had the best trip ever thanks to them. We did all the best stuff and never waited more than 10 minutes for any of the rides.
I highly recommend them! |

Everything worth saying has already been mentioned, but just to stress how important it is, if you plan on eating at a sit-down restaurant, call RIGHT NOW to try and get a reservation. They take reservations a few months in advance, so move quickly.
If you need an idea on where to eat, Disney's "Dining Finder" is a great tool.
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/dining/diningFinder
Don't forget to check out the restaurants at the resorts as well. A few are just a short mono-rail ride away from Magic Kingdom, or a short walk from Epcot. |

The first couple of weeks of December are a great time to go. The last couple of weeks are insanely busy. I don't know which weeks you are going, but either way, a little pre-planning is helpful. I would highly suggest you get a guidebook or two and also visit http://www.allearsnet.com
If you want to eat at any of the sit-down restaurants, you need to make reservations NOW - in fact, in may be too late. Personally, I like sticking to the counter-service/quick places.
There are four Disney parks. Depending on how many days you are going for, you may need to be picking which parks you want to go to. If you make meal reservations, you will obviously need to plan exactly where you are going to go each day. If you don't make meal reservations, you can wing it a little more.
Be sure to read on the website I gave you earlier about how to use Disney's FREE Fastpass system. It can save you a lot of time. |

Well first off .. lucky you !! lol im jealous :] !
Depending where you are comming from ( long trip or not) bring stuff like ipods and that on the plane ..
In Disney World try to go to every park you can ( Magic Kingdom,Animal Kingdom, MGM,&EPCOT) and try to go on every ride since it's your first time.:]
the lines will probably be long so get fastpasses :]
also try to get extra magic hours so you can go to the parks earlier & stay later. :] The lines aren't that bad then.
Wear comfortable walking shoes .. it's A LOT of walking.
If you want some suggestions on rides .. these are a few of my favs.
Magic Kingdom-Splash Mountain,Thunder Mountain,Space Mountain,Pirates of The Carribean,All the "kiddie" rides like Whinnie the pooh, small world, peter pans flight,Mickey's Phillar Magic, MIKES LAUGH FLOOR ! its corny but funny :]
MGM-Tower of Terror,Rock n rollercoaster,The Great Movie Ride
EPCOT-Test Track,Soarin,seeing all the countries :]
Animal Kingdom-Expedition Everest, Nemo Show is very good :]
Definately see the Wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom. They do them everynight. Also, a good time to go to the Worldshowcase in EPCOT ( the one w/ all the countries) is at night for dinner,& dessert&lights ( they have a good fireworks show too!)
At MGM they have a really good show - Fantasmic .. you have to get there like 2 hrs in advance though.
If you want to eat at the fancy Italian restaurant in EPCOT definately call ahead by a lot. I never got to eat there because they are ALWAYS filled up.
It can be stressful .. but really .. dont stress .. just relax & have fun. Try everything if you have the chance & time :]
DISNEY IS AMAZING ! have fun !
also, if you have time & want to go .. downtown disney is cool too :] they have great shopping & dining |

Get the "Fast Pass" or whatever they call it there. I have been there and the lines were stupid long. I went in the middle of summer but I would think December would be just as bad with all the Christmas lights and shows.
Also if you are going to be there a few day you will want to buy the "Park Hopper Pass", this gets you in all the parks. |

Here's what to do:
1. Stay in a Disney resort (if you don't the trip's gonna be more stressful)
2. Do the Disney Dining plan (You save allot!)
3. Get a park hopper
4. Bring plenty of money, you'd be surprised at how expensive a simple souvenir can be.
5. Bring a digital camera rather than a disposable one.
6. Have a dinner reservation ahead of advance.
Here's what NOT to do:
1. Wear flip flops-Your feet get sore and the sandal strap could break.
2. Go to Magic Kingdom on a Monday-That's the most crowded day of the week for that park.
Check out this site for awesome tips & more.
Have fun and good luck!

Plan first, I'm sure there are actually websites, w/ sample itinerary, and suggestions on what to bring, buy, and where to stay. Start planning now so you don't get taken, or miss out on anything. You might also be able to squeeze in sometime at another Orlando theme park for cheap if you do your research. |
