You asked... I answered
NOT THE CASTLE!!!! That is too cliche'.

Think of what you both enjoy, and what her favorite ride is. If you can do it on the ride, ask her there. Like Pirates or Haunted Mansion is slow enough... obviously Rock'n Rollercoaster isn't.

Kind of fun, but morbid, would be right outside the Haunted Mansion where all the tombstones are. "Honey, I love you and will until the day I die. Will you marry me?" Then you have a long, dark, slow moving ride to be romantic... not too romantic though, it is Disney!! : )

Fort Wilderness Campground has carriages and wagon rides nightly. You can book a carriage ride and propose there.

Another option might be the Hoop De Doo Review at Fort Wilderness. It is a dinner show that uses audience members. You might arrange to be brought on stage and they can work the proposal into the show somehow.

One of my last suggestions is on one of the beaches of one of the resorts if you are staying at one around the lagoon. They are beautiful, and from some of them you still have a view of Disney. I prefer the Polynesian, but that's just me.

Congrats to you both, and I'll keep my eyes open when I'm at the Hoop De Doo in May on our vacation.

Just Jess
In front of the castle of course!!

If she has a favorite park (maybe she likes animal kingdom better? Do it in front of a major animal kingdom landmark - like the tree)...

If you search for "Ideas for proposing in disney" in your search box I'm sure you'll come up with a zillion ideas!!

You could do it in your hotel lobby if you really wanted to. If you wanted to get the staff in on it....
Or if you do it in a park - even if you already have a plan - go up to one of the employees and just explain what you're about to do, and ask if they have any ideas how to make it even more "magical"...

What a sweet guy you are.
Disney is the best place ever, and you're about to make it even better for her!!

In the California Grill restaurant at the Contemporary, (ask for a table with a view of the Magic Kingdom when the fireworks are going!!) The beach at the Grand Floridian or Polynesian while the suns setting, arrange one of those private fireworks cruises for the Epcot or Magic Kingdom fireworks (I think the Magic Kingdom one's more romantic.) Also the swing on the beach in front of the Yacht and Beach Club while the suns setting is really romantic. Congrats!!!! :))))

Congrats sir..hope she says yes!!! Most romantic place is always.. in front of the castle. She'll feel like a princess...you'll be professing your love in front of a lot of people and if you do it when the fireworks start, it's extra special. call which park you'd like to possibly propose in and see if they can suggest anything or help you set something up. i know that they often enjoy doing little things to make the moment better.

Awww! That's sooo cute!!!

It all depends on her personality with the big crowds or not, if she's generally a reserved, shy person then I would say find somewhere a little more private so she doesn't have hundreds of people staring her down while she's answering you. But if she's an outgoing type of person, then by all means, propose in the most public place!

Romantic Places:
- In front of the castle!! Right when the fireworks go off, (or right before, that way when she says yes you have fireworks going off in the background!)
- Ask her if she has a favorite ride!! If it's one like It's a Small World, go on a less busy time and ask (beforehand) if you can get the last boat to yourselves and tell them why, I'm sure they'd love to help. Then pop the question during the ride!
- In front of the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom, because you want to spend your life with her and the tree of life should be good luck.
- If she ever wants to travel the world, take her to Epcot to her favorite country's section and propose to her somewhere in there!

http://www.visitflorida.com/articles/places-to-propose (These aren't in WDW, but oh my gosh, this one has some pretty freaking good ideas about proposing in Florida in specific places, I like the dolphin one!!!)

Good luck! I hope I helped and that she says yes!!

Gray's Mom
How about Cinderella's wishing well tucked in by the castle? It's a quiet little area that I don't think a lot of people check out. Take the walkway from kind of behing the castle on your way to Tomorrow land.

If you're staying at the Poly for the big moment, if you're not already, go ahead and upgrade to the concierge level. You'll be glad you did.
That said, on the beach there in front of the concierge longhouse, is a hammock, or two. It's a great spot to watch the fireworks over the castle.
Congratulations!

Not sure if I made it in time, I didn't read all the responses but if you ask a Disney cast member concierge desk at the hotel. They have even been known to help arrange a proposal as part of a show or cut off the small world ride so it's only for 2...even have a cast member meet you as they pause the ride to give you the ring. We asked a cast member about how they assist with proposals. The only thing they won't do is let you use any of the characters with the proposals. They say it's Disney policy in case someone says no.

Good Luck!

p.s.
We were told they do most of the assistance proposing for free.

Disney fanatic
Wow what a guy!
Romantic:
On top of the Contemporary Hotel during the fireworks after having a great meal at the California Grill.
In Front of the Castle as they start the music for Spectro Magic parade at night
For fun:
in the middle of Soarin in Epcot or before you take the plunge on Splash Mountain
For "awe" factor
Pre arrange for you to get on stage at the Hoop de Do Revue and ask her then
Money is no object
Rent Cinderella's Carriage for a romantic ride

At the castle in Magic Kingdom of course. most romantic spot at WDW,

Milana P
Depends- do you want the ring to do the talking, or are you going to preface the whole thing with "so I've been thinking about the future blah blah blah...."? Personally, I prefer to just surprise her with the ring. If so, here's the plan:

Disney employs people to take your picture- yes, you would have to buy the picture if you want it, but it's really no big deal, they take several. Wait until your sweetie says she wants a picture of the castle, and suggest you get the picture-dude to take one with you guys posing in front of the castle. Then, instead of posing, drop down on your knee and hold up the ring. Tada- a total surprise with pictures to boot.

I like your idea of proposing on the beach by the Polynesian. However, instead of doing this at sunset you could do it right before the Magic Kingdom fireworks (Wishes). You can see Wishes easily from the beach of the Polynesian.

Ask the staff if you could light a few candles by the gazebo and then propose. After you propose then the fireworks will go off! Then, as you stroll on the beach and look at the fireworks 15 min later the water electric pageant will come by on the lake and will add to the beauty.

Sounds very romantic!!!

Here is a link to some pictures of the fireworks you can see from the Polynesian Resort. (PR)

I know alot of people have wrote a detailed answer but i'll keep mines short and sweet.

In front of the castle, with the fireworks.
She will feel like a real princess and it will be a beautiful time, congratulations sir (:

xabisgirl
how about in 'France' in Epcot in front of the fountains - you could have a lovely glass of chilled champagne from the cart in front to celebrate:)

Carriage ride down main street in front of the castle is th first thing that came to my mind.

I also like the suggestion of a romantic dinner at one of the MK area resorts with a view of the fireworks.

my dream is to be asked at night, right before the fireworks start, on Main Street infront of Walt/Mickey and the Castle, complete with a barbershop quartet singing "When You Wish Upon a Star" in the background (that can be arranged). Ahhh, i hope that happens for me. She'll melt if you do this for her. Good luck :)

Everyone is giving you some good ideas - so I thought I would do something different - maybe places where you should not do it and one pretty good idea.

Probably not the Tower of Terror - or Misson Space - the Safari and river rid in the Animal kingdom the risk is great you will loose the ring. Ditto fast track at Epcot. Probably not the bus ride in. Probably not Expidition everst - although the pause when it goes backwords could be fun!

So where too - At Hollywood studios - there is a Backlot tour and you could be in the Harbor Attack (arrange in advance) somebody is going to get wet but it would be fun.

Magic Kingdom - Monsters Inc laugh floor - with assistance you can be scripted in. They take jokes from the audience submitted while you are waiting so bet you could get the help of a 'monster'.

Epcot - Turtle talk with Crush - this one might be harder to arrange - it's hard to get in -but ask someone at Disney if it's possible.

Its not so important where you ask - it's more important that you strive to keep the 'magic' in y our relationship.

If you're staying at Poly you could do it on the beach while watching Wishes, the MK fireworks OR the best spot I can think of is to go over to the Contemporary and go up to the California Grill (you don't have to eat there, I'm pretty sure you can say you're just going up for drinks or something) and they have an outdoor viewing area that you can watch Wishes from the top of the hotel, they pipe the music in and its amazing! That's the best thing I can think of!

lara.
Aww you're cute ha ha :)
I would either do it on her favorite ride, in front of the castle, or (if you don't mind spending money) take the fireworks cruise.
Congrats and good luck :D

I'd like to be engaged right in front of the Castle in the Magic Kingdom during wishes!!!!

Call Disney Direct. They can assist you with ideas on where to propose, how to do it and can make arrangements for you. I like the castle idea but yes, it has been done a lot. You should go with something that is Disney but a little different.

I liek the idea a previous poster listed about proposing in front of fountains at France pavilion with champagne.

I am a fan of the British Invasion (Beatles tribute band) so I know that I would have enjoyed a proposal with that worked in.

Have you thought about doing Tea at the Grand Floridian and proposing there? Or perhaps dining at a favorite restaurant and having arrangements made to hide the ring on the dessert plate.

Options are only limited to your imagination!

Meggy
In the universal theater part. In the finding Nemo section, I know that you can ask them to make a sketch thing of the turtle talking. You can have it ask for you. That would be cute, but you would have a crap load of noisy kids though.
The haunted mansion with the I will love you till I die was a good Idea.
Not in front of the castle, She would expect that.
Or on her favorite SLOW ride, cuz you dont want the ring to get lost. THAT would suck.
A big crowd is good and bad, you could do like an announcement type thing. Get up and ask for the people around you for their attention. Then start talking about your soon to be wife, then say so, I would like to ask a question. Will you marry me? Blah blah blah. But then that isnt as romantic.
Good luck, and congrats
