It would all depend on what you wanted to do while you were there. If youre planning on just siteseeting, you should be fine

Belmar
Enough to feed yourself and see the sites. But trust me you need more if you want to shop and why go all that way and not shop.

caseymitchum2000
No, you will probably need alot more than that because there are so many shops and things to do $500 will go so fast. Its not about spending loads but there is so many shops, you will want to buy everyone you love decent things so take a bit more.

If that is to cover the cost of meals, you are rather low. However, there are many inexpensive things to do in NYC, especially if you like museums. I would recommend you start at the United Nations, as it is free (unless you buy things at the gift shop). Just walk Fifth Avenue between 34th and 59th Streets to see all the Christmas decorations. Museums I recommend are the Chase Money Museum (in lower Manhattan, near the stock exchange, World Trade Center site, and Chinatown), although don't expect to walk out with a sample to take home, especially of the Yap coins. Also Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Cloisters. NYC transit offers a seven day "metropass", which should say you money, even if you only use it five days. Good for subways (our underground) as well as buses. Staten Island Ferry is free, great view of the harbor.

SYJ
It depends on whether you are going to go to buy all your Christmas presents and restock your wardrobe. If so, no. Otherwise you can get by on $570 if you have paid for bed, breakfast and dinner.

Don't think so. You will need more than that as NYC is super expensive. Unless you are sharing expenses with someone else you may want to consider bringing more money and if you don't use it great bu at least you'll have it.

it depends whatu are planning on doing but for me id want to take advantage of the fantastic shops and get lots of souvenirs and go out drinking everynight, obviously its a major city and everyone goes there so the prices will be sky high.

$570 is going to be plenty for eating out and sight seeing i would imagine. however, if you're going to do any shopping (and why wouldn't you whilst in new york?) and you don't have a credit card, then it's probably not enough.
saying that, depends on what and how much you're going to shop for!

That depends on what you want to do whilst you are there

personally I would take more,NYC has awesome shops and as things are more reasonably priced than the UK believe me you will want to buy loads and what about eating out, take as much money as you can.
