Kwame has done many things wrong here are a few of things that he has spearheaded that has been successful:

Balanced Detroits budget to avoid receivership
Organized the Transformation Growth Comittee - which is a big reason why Detroit has had so much revitalization downtown.
Organized the Office of Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization- which is working on the improvement of 8 detroit areas including improvement on lighting, streetscaping, and facade.
Detroit 12 yr tax abatement- which gives Detroit residences a break on their taxes for the first 12 yrs. This has really pushed the property sales in Detroit.
Worked with Ella Bully Cummings to restructure our police force in order to reduce payroll and put more police on the beat than ever before.
He also has a small business Detroit support initiative.
Kilpatrick negotiated an overhaul of Cobo, set for next year.
He also has a highly anticipated economic stimulus package coming out.

Kwame has a longer list of the bad things that he has done for Detroit Although I have left those off due to your request, but I believe that his heart is in the right place. If only he would stop thinking with his ego, and his D ! ( K. I truly hope that this will be the end of his future as the mayor. Once we replace him we would also need to overhaul the city council.

He has given the City a lively personality, which folks seemed to prefer over other candidates.

I would have prefered a little less personality and a little more accomplishment.

Archer was the force behind Compuware and Campus Martius. Archer was behind casinos and Comerica Park, Ford Field and getting the SuperBowl.

Kwame has been sucking up Archer's crumbs for 7 years. The crumbs have run out.

It now costs Detroit residents $300 to pay to have their garbage picked up
The Belle Isle Aquarium ( the oldest in the Country) closed due to lack of funding while he has been in office
There is a 9 million $ payment needing to be made to the 2 guys who had the guts to do the whistle blowing on the Mayor
The Mayor tried to steal the Navigator until he got caught
The Police pension for the retired cops is in jeopardy

Kwame Kilpatrich has DONE NOTHING GOOD for Detroit. All he does is Live In Everday Sin, Lives Like Donald Trump at Taxpayer Expense, and he commits adultry which is a Sin in the Bible. Since he has been mayor, the population declines, more crime is happening, and the city is relying more on the State for Financial Assistance because without the states help, the City of Detroit WOULD GO OUT OF BUSINESS.

When Kilpatrick was elected, I though that Detroit was going to change for the better. He was a young man with great ideas who could bring change to Detroit. Six years later after first being elected, Detroit hasn't changed much and is much worst today than when Kilpatrick was sworn into office in 2002.

He attempted to start cleaning up neighborhoods. Its a work in progress though and will take years to see if it actually worked.

Kwame balanced the budget. He is also the one that wrecked them in the 1st place.

He finally got something going for a Cobo expansion although its still going to be far too small. This is still more of a regional problem than just Detroit.

KGB - Those were problems before Kwame. He didn't cause them or fix them.

Yes, he has eliminated alot of the fluff in city jobs. He has laid off or sent into retirement some people who were coming to work everyday to collect pay but do no work.

If you look at the revitalization of downtown Detroit, he had a hand in that.

He brings charisma and an attitude of gratitude to be citizen of Detroit.

I tell you THIS I would have Kwame Kilpatrick be my mayor than Freeman ANY time!

I really haven't seen anything at all that shows Kwame has done anything good for Detroit or for the residents of Detroit. If you are intending to be the mayor of a big city (or any city at all), you need to "prove yourself" first to the community that you want to do for the community (and not for yourself). Detroit needs a mayor that will be "for the people" in good times and bad!!!!

NO HE HASN'T! Anything good in Detroit came from the previous mayor...Dennis Archer!

Kwame TRIES to take credit for the casinos and creating jobs BUT Archer approved for those casinos to be built! He takes people for idiots when really HE is the idiot--what a crook!

of course we see what good he has done and we respect what he is bringing to Detroit but put that on one side of the scales and all the things he has done wrong and what he has cost the city, looks like the scale is a little heavy on the wrong side. too bad the city can't sue him for the 9 mill lost to the officers that he fired cause his I'm the mayor and I can lay anyone I want to attitude was opened up to the public.

I am not willing to say that this is a good thing, but Kwane has done a great job at making Detroit the most polarized and secluded major city in America.

he has entrecnhed the us vs. them mentality throughout the city and the city is not really have much going for it with the exception of a FEW, SMALL, SAFE pockets to visit.

The core of the city lloks the a third world country, the school district is in shambles, services are ridiculously bad.

Keep circling the wagons and realize the only people that will defend Kwame and his campaign are hard core Detroiters who refuse to let the real world in - they CHOOSE to continue to live in their own little segregrated world and do not like ANY outsiders.

Kwame might really be Coleman A. Young's lost child - running the city into the ground just like Young did before him!
