hi...I just went for the first time a couple of months ago. I stayed at the Tropicana. It is south but I liked it. It was a little dated but very clean. And I got an upgraded room for less than $50 a night. I saved even more on checkout with my comps which they doubled (and I was no high roller by any means). We liked hanging out at NYNY. The Fulton Street fish is the best deal and you get lots of food. We ate there 4 times! I wouldn't mind staying a little farther north like Paris or Aladdin but I would stay at the Trop anytime too.
I also thought the Aladdin buffet was overpriced for the offerings, at least at lunch time. Though the meat station is great with that skewered chicken and lamb. But all the other stations were weenie in my opinion. Ok, the dessert station was good too.

It has changed! ALOT! I love the Venetian. If you're going when it's warm out, the Mirage has great pools, Mandalay Bay has wave pool. Belligiao has best bathrooms. Treasure Island gives comps. RIO has the best buffets. Wynn has great views and best beds. Stay at Excalliber if you have kids... or MGM.

who hasn't been to vegas? every American's birthright. I thought I would hate it the first time I went, but I loved it. Decadence in the middle of a desert is strangely appropriate. Any hotel built since the late 90s is good - there are dozens to choose from. The Wynn is my favorite

Was there last summer.

I stayed in my private condo.

Be sure to visit Ceasar's Palace, Bellagio, New York New York, Paris, and Venezia.

It has changed a lot since you were last there 16 years ago.

Look it up on the internet. You'll find all the info you want on Las Vegas. Have fun!!!!!

I Love Vegas!!!! Just got back, stayed at the Venetian. They have the Blue Man Group and the Phantom of the Opera, both excellent shows. We actually spent alot of time in the hotel. It was really nice. Also stayed at T.I., Luxor, Rio and the Residence Inn in the past. They were all nice. My next trip, I would like to stay at Caesars or the Aladdin. It is amazing how gorgeous these hotels are. Bellagio is beautiful, but is a bit too pricey for us. You will have a blast, and be amazed by how it has changed. Good Luck!!

I have been to Las Vegas. I stayed at the Riviera Hotel. It was an amazing place and I enjoyed the Celine Dion show. That was why I went to Las Vegas. I am not a gambler.

OH YA! I stayed the first time at Imperial Palace but I did not like it. It is way to crowded and small plus ventelation is not good at all even if you are in the casino for 2 seconds you come out smelling like cigarette. THe Karaoke place outside is really fun though. The last times I have gone I have stayed at the most romantic hotel in Vegas "PARIS" it is so amazingly nice even though it doesn't have all the shops and things that Bellagio, Ceasars Palace, Mirage & Venetian have but that is probably the best part of it because it is so easy to get to and out of your rooms fast. I have not been to any shows just the street shows which are really fun. We just kind of walk up and down the whole strip drinking and having fun. I know there is so much to do but I enjoy walking the strip specially because it is just my husband and I that go so it's like a honeymoon to us! ENJOY YOURSELF YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY TO HAVE FUN! But if you want to go to show plan ahead and buy online because once you are there it gets pretty crazy

I've gone every year for the last eleven years. I've stayed at (ranked from favorite to least) - Treasure Island, Hard Rock, NYNY, Luxor, the Mirage, Excalibur, and Riviera. It's my favorite city in the world!!!

Summer Breeze
I make a point of going 2 to 3 times a year. Depending on how much you are willing to spend and the day of week, as well as time of year, there are plenty of nice places to stay on the strip and downtown.

Strip (vary in price):
Mandalay Bay
MGM
Aladdin
Harrah's
Mirage
Flamingo
New York New York
Venetian
Bellagio
Cesar's Palace
Treasure Island

I live in Vegas. Depending on your budget...If you're looking for an inexpensive place I suggest staying someplace off the Strip Like Sam's Town, Boulder Station, Sunset Station, Fiesta. If you want the luxury experience I would suggest Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Bellagio, Aladdin, or Paris. Play craps its the only game where the odds aren't too bad. If you play slot and video poker , stay away from touristy places and go where the locals go. (named in inexpensive list) and at 7-11's and grocery stores. If you want to play them on the strip then choose a machine close to entrance.

Oh yes!! I use to live out there It's preety cool. Befor I moved out there I used to love going out there I use to stay either at the Primm valley befor you hit Vegas, or the Flamingo, Cesars Palace.

beatty040
Cheapest place I've stayed at was the Imperial, which was a clean but basic room. I've also stayed at the Luxor, Venetian and Bellagio which are all great but more expensive. So, if you fancy treating yourself I'd highly recommend Bellagio. The rooms are just fantastic.

Jer
I Love staying at the Monte Carlo - It is a big hotel right on the strip and is close by to many of the other large casino/resorts. it is a lot cheaper than some of its neighbors. It is a great location and has an amazing pool area, some shopping, a food court, a buffet, several good restaurants. If money isn't an issue stay at Bellagio - you won't be sorry, it is the crown jewel of vegas.

If you aren't worried about price stay at the Bellagio, Venetian, or Caesar's Palace. I would say they are by far the best in terms of services and also things to do in and of themselves. If you are looking for a little cheaper look at Luxor or Excalibur. And if you want rock bottom try Flamingo or the Imperial Palace, they aren't nearly as nice but are still on the strip.
If possible make as many of your nights that you are staying there mon-thur, the rates are cheaper.

If I were you I would go with Caesar's.

Boy, some people really need to get out here and not ask for "help" ...
Wow...

Vegas changes its colors about once every 5 years.
It is more diverse than when you were here, so there is no real good answer to your question without some background.

Where do you stay? depends on your budget. People who stay at the troicana for $59 can have just a good time, although different, than one who spends $450 at the Four Seasons.

There are things that one would do that the other would never think of or consider.

So, what are your taste$ and ask from there.

Your Help
They say that Antarctica is the worst place on earth, but I believe that distinction belongs to Las Vegas, hands down. For one thing, Antarctica is more pleasing to look at. The natural scenery is about equal to Nevada’s in desolate grandeur, but Antarctica’s man-made artifacts are less distressing to an average human being’s neural network. The population of Antarctica, though tiny in comparison, is better-educated, less transient, and employed in more honorable work. Las Vegas certainly leads in cheap buffets, but the result is a shocking rate of obesity with attendent medical disorders. Some might even argue that overall Antarctica has better weather. In Las Vegas, a baby left unattended in the back seat of a car for nine minutes will fricasee before its mother returns with the dry cleaning.
As I write, Las Vegas is the fastest-growing city in the United States. For a culture that understands things only in terms of numbers, this supposedly proves that it must be a splendid place. I’ve heard it touted often as the American city of the future, the prototype habitat for a society in which the old boundaries between work, leisure, entertainment, information, production, service, and acquisition dissolve, and a new exciting, colorful, pleasure-laden human meta-existence finds material expression in any wishful form the imagination might conjure out of an ever-mutating blend of history, fantasy, electrosilicon alchemy and unfettered desire. If Las Vegas truly is our city of the future, then we might as well all cut our own throats tomorrow. I certainly felt like cutting mine after only a few days there, so overwhelming was the sheer anomie provoked by every particular of its design and operation. As a city it’s a futureless catastrophe. As a tourist trap, it’s a meta-joke. As a theosophical matter, it presents proof that we are a wicked people who deserve to be punished. In the historical context, it is the place where America’s spirit crawled off to die.
The trouble with Las Vegas is not just that it is ridiculous and dysfunctional, but that anybody might take it seriously as a model for human ecology on anything but the most extreme provisional terms. That they do might in itself be proof that American civic culture has reached a terminal stage. Even the casual observer can see that Las Vegas is approaching its tipping point as a viable urban system, particularly in the matter of scale. In evolutionary biology, at the threshold of extinction organisms often attain gigantic size and a narrow specialty of operation that leaves them very little room to adapt when their environment changes even slightly. This is the predicament of Las Vegas. Its components have attained a physical enormity that will leave them vulnurable to political, economic, and social changes that are bearing down upon us with all the inexorable force of history.
Las Vegas evolved as a crude extrapolation of several elements of American culture: the defiance of nature, abnormally cheap land, vast empty space for expansion, and the belief that it is possible to get something for nothing -- these elements all presenting themselves there in the most extreme form. The trouble with extrapolation as a growth model is that it assumes the continuation of all present conditions in the future, only more so. Since this is not consistent with how the world works, systems organized on this basis fail. Anyway, to extrapolate urban growth based only on extreme conditions invites certain catastrophe, since the law of unintended consequences will produce ever more compounded skewed outcomes. The destiny of Las Vegas, therefore, would seem bright in the same sense that a thermonuclear explosion is bright. I view it as a model for the extinction of the system I call the National Automobile Slum.
