Has anyone been to orlando usa over the xmas season and what is it like especially disney?

Even though its out of season is everything still open over the festive season at just shorter opening hours and is the weather still good?

Christmas is actually what is called Premier time for Disney, it is the busiest time of the year. The weather is pretty good, not as hot as the spring and summer, but not usually freezing. In terms of crowds, like I said, it is the busiest season for Disney. Everything is open, and there are many extra events for Christmas and New Year's. The parks are decorated like no other time in the year, and the mood is festive. If you can handle the crowds it is a fun time to be in Disney, but if you are trying to avoid the crowds a bit, pick another time.

Off season for Disney actually starts in August and goes until around Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving it dies down again until December. Keep in mind that there are some advantages to going to Disney in the off season, the crowds are less and the prices lower. However, as you said yourself the parks close earlier, there are many rides and attractions closed down for refurbishment, and some of the parades and shows are on a limited schedule.

My favorite time to go is the spring. Easter is another especially busy time at Disney, but no where NEAR what Christmas is. The weather is perfect, mid to upper 80's during the day, mid to low 60's at night. The crowds are tolerable, and as long as you take advantage of the Fastpass you are able to move around with little problem.

If you want more info about going to Disney, you can check out the diboards. The disboards is a message boards website that is all about going to Disney. You can get advice and tips on crowds, the best time to go, resort reviews, restaurant reviews, trip reports and much more. I put the link below.

Hope this helps, have a great trip!

Christmas week itself is a nightmare, to be avoided at all costs. The three weeks before are wonderful, although weather can be all over the place.

See this for more on winter weather at Disney World: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-family-trip/when-to-go/next-best-dates/weather-and-when-to-go/

Hope this helps, and have a great trip.

I'm from America and chances are that the temperatures will be warm enough for you to wear shorts. Jeans at least. The chances of an overnight freeze are less than 10%. Take a light jacket just in case a cold front moves in, and it gets blustery and a little chilly. Florida grows a ton of oranges and all kinds of vegetables in the wintertime. The average high at Christmas is 72 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average low is 52 degrees Fahrenheit.

for me ,this is the best time to go.the first week of dec.yes everything is open, plus all made up for the season, the days are warm but you need a sweater at night. Disney is not crowded, except for sat. the 1st sat of dec is when they film the Christmas parade.also on sat, they have the spectromagic parade.it is also one of the cheapest times to go. we go every year for the past 10 years. if you are talking about Christmas vacation or Christmas day, it is really crowded. hope this helps

if you are planning on going anywhere between dec 20th to jan 1st. it will be extremely crowded.
if you are going just before or just after thoughs dates the crowds are barely there.

all of the rides and attractions are still open and some are even xmas themed such as country bear jamburee.
and the water parks are still open too.

actually from the week before xmas to new years day magic kingdom is open until midnight and some days 1am.
i believe the other parks clodse at normalish times.
epcot-9pm ish
hollywood studios-9pm ish
animal kingdom-5pm ish

for the most part the weahter is really nice.
usually doesn't rain in december.
temps usually 70's-80's
and sunny.

there are soo many cool extra things to do during the xmas season.
the osborn famliy lights at hollywood studios (free)
mickey's very merry chrismas party at magic kingdom. (about $45 per ticket)
and they make it snow in the parks!
not to mention all of the decorations and christmas trees.
in epcot you can hear each countries version of how santa and xmas came about
and special xmas shows and parades
and at epcot illuminations reflections of earth is even more spactacular cuz they have a special xmas finale.

Christmas is the best time to go. But I would go the first two weeks of december lines are shorter and when I went last years the temp was always between 70-80 and there is always a water park open they keep the pools heated also if you decide to go dont miss out on mickeys very mery christmas party I loved it

jslinderml
Everything is open as far as I am aware, some of the Water Parks may have shorter hours. One note with Disney, at Disney is the Mickey's Very Merry Xmas Party, and Magic Kingdom is closed for those nights unless you have separate tickets for those events.

The week between Xmas and NY is EXTREMELY busy at Disney, the rest of December not so bad.

Hi guys,

Jet Airways has a brilliant Student Plan for people going abroad for further studies to countries like UK, USA, etc… They offer Excess Baggage Allowance of up to 23 kilos and travel insurance. You get a Matrix Sim Card to call back home and some other privileges, too. Check the link to find out more.

I just thought you would be interested in this offer. Thanks for your time. This is Neha Thomas helping Jet Airways with their Student Plan Marketing efforts.

Everything is open and beautiful! Christmas time is the second busiest time at Walt Disney World and World and Orlando!

I suggest you get cheap tickets to Disney World at http://www.orlandofuntickets.com/

Have fun!

The week before Xmas is a really good time to go - families usually visit the grandparents that week then go touristing the following week. The week between Xmas and New Years is the busiest of the year (or it used to be) and you'll spend more time in line than anything else. Avoid at all costs. When you have to stand in line over 45 minutes for each activity (including food and bathroom) it really kills the trip. Some rides you know you have to wait for, but to have everything that way gets irritating. Plus the crowds make it hard to maneuver, etc. Definitely go the week before, it's so much better.

And yes, Orlando does it up big time at Xmas time. The lights, the parades, the whole shabang.

i got you dancing :)
