I went to maui with my family! and its awesome its so beautiful and theres always great weather the beaches are great and its sooo much fun! they have great shopping and i went on a helicopter tour theres so much to see and its so beautiful there! Its just amazing! all the people are really nice and its just one of the best places to go its amazing!

Geezer
I've been several times.

It will be one of the best trips of your life. So much to see and do. Be sure to go to the tourist and the local places; they BOTH are the best

It's a wonderful place to visit, but I'd not want to live there. The cost of living is out to lunch and you're 3000 miles from everything

i've been to the island of oaho 3 times. i love it there! the weather is perfect all year round. not too hot, not too cold. it's a little humid, but not that much. it's perfect weather. it may rain for like 10 seconds, but then it stops. they're are so many beaches there, and the water is warm. some beaches have clear blue waters. there's so much you could do there (snorkling, surf lessons, boogy / body boarding, skim boarding). there's a water park on the island of oahu too.
you can go on dinner cruises too, and go to this place call the Polynesian Cultural Center, where you can learn about their culture, and watch some entertaining hula dancing, and make arts and crafts there. you can eat at a luau which is always fun. One thing i enjoyed the most was the Dole plantation, where they grow pineapples. they have tours where you could see all the different types of pineapples they grow there and it smells great. one of the worlds largest maze was there, and that was super fun. there's many shopping centers and a mall there too. the food there is great. the people there are super friendly.

I've been to most of the islands twice and it's heavenly. Big Island, is like most, very volcanic. Kauai is very rainy but has gorgeous rain forests. It's so beautiful. Just like the postcards! Blue water, white sandy beaches.. the weather is perfect. Honolulu (Oahu island) is the busiest because of Waikiki beach but it is worth visiting. There are many hotels, opportunities to surf and the shops are open till 11 in the evening and the streets are lined with shops and booths with local crafts.

I had the time of my life!

Yes, I was last there in '99.
Really love it there. Great hotel service, plenty to see, I went to Pearl Harbour, Good shops with courteous staff, found a Woolworth there. Plenty to do and places to visit. WEnt to Waikiki beach which was disappointing. Very littery and mucky. Army museum right by the beach which is well worth a visit. See Japanese aircraft shot down in the attack on Pearl Harbour. and more.

Nice goal & very attainable. I went to Hawaii for a 2 week vacation and ended up staying 3 years. Because of the tourist trade, it was very easy to find work ( Im a career waitress & have traveled the world this way) It was a blast. Very beautiful & the locals were super nice, not like anything Ive ever encountered anywhere else. They have an excellent transit system (Oahu) and you can take a bus all the way around the island for about a buck. The North Shore is where all the surfers hang out and they have all the big competitions. Also youll find alot of local artist (including Wylands Gallery) Most of the locals leave Waikiki to the tourist and for good reason too. The beach is flooded with Japeneez (opps) with cameras and can be quite crowded. Youll have more fun and meet nice locals sticking to the northshore. Also the middle of the island is quite beautiful with small towns in box canyons. As you know Hawaii is Americas only claim to rainforest and the center of the island is a great example of this, plus you will get to see where & how people native to the islands live. I would suggest going to Oahu & then from there visiting the other islands. There are many junkets where they offer airfare, 2 nites hotel, & rental car for between $100 & $200. Another thing Ive learned from traveling is that alot of times its better not to book hotel rooms unless you are positive that its the best deal otherwise you might end up staying somewhere where the hotel next door is half price. Now I always check my bags at the airport and look around for my own place, then retrieve my bags when Ive found something that I like. Another secret to saving money in Hawaii is to get local ID. Use your hotel address. Most places - resturants, bars, attractions, and some stores offer locals discounts & ID is relatively easy to obtain, plus what a great souvenir. The best way to get cheap tickets is to NOT plan to far in advance. Airlines would rather send a FULL plane and will offer tickets at half price just to fill the plane so sometimes its better to wait at the airport on standby. Ive never had to wait longer than a day and Ive never paid full fare either. I hope this helps and good luck to you, it will be the trip of a lifetime. PS. Since your young and dont have to pay rent yet, this would be the best time to get a job and save your cash. Without bills to pay it would add up quickly. Just a thought.

Actually I'm from Hawaii and was raised there since last year. I'm 11 years old now and I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. All the time I had been there, there was many things to do and it's filled with fun and happiness! The weather is always warm so you could go to the beach...my favorite beach is Waikiki beach because there are sometimes Sunset On The Beach...which is that they play a movie on the beach to the public. Then when your done you could just walk over to Waikiki and shop or eat at a local restaurant! So I hope you have fun because I sure did!!!
You could also buy some Shave Ice which they call Snow Cones in the mainland....it's much better than snow cones it's soft ice and tasty! In Oahu there is a place called Hawaiian Water Adventure Park and it has many water rides that you'll love! Well THANKS...

Yes

I was there for only a week in feb. I spend a lot of time going back and forth to the hospital. Relative was sick. She did fine.

I mainly concentrated on the grinds. Saw some friends. Did some jogging everyday in Kailua. I was back in Germany in a week.

It is nice. I have lots of family there. It is warm. The food is good. The food is really good. The scenery is nice, but I have seen beautiful warm places in the Med, southern europe and mexico. The food is ono. The food break your mouth. I guess it is still home for me.

Hey girl!

Well i hope you get your wish real soon. we welcome visitors, and i love meeting new people.

I'd like to suggest a book for you to read. It's about the tragic life of our last princess, and its filled with info about the Hawaiian monarchy, and the annexation of the islands.

It's called "Princess Ka'iulani: Hope of a Nation, Heart of a People" by Sharon Linnea

They are actually making a movie on our princess right now. ...hopefully they portray the princess right or else there will be hell to pay. Even though she's been gone for a long time, she still has the hearts of the people.

Well i hope you get to come here and visit.
Aloha!
