ABQ is probably one of the places that most people overlook and shouldn't. My first impression was driving into it at night. The lights are quite beautiful. People there are full of "western hospitality" and of course it has one of the largest (if not the largest) balloon fest in the USA. This is held in October and is quite the event. |

My family used to live in Arizona and we passed through the town to eat and get gas. It is a nice place to stop, very clean town. |

Albuquerque, NM is one of the biggest cities in New Mexico. And, overall, not very nice in my opinion. I live an hour south of it in Socorro and I have to say that I was very disappointed. Old Town is very pretty and historic but there's only so much to do. Albuquerque also has very high crime rates for it's size and a lot of problems with gangs, so I've heard. They are also not known for having the best drivers. A GMAC driving survey showed that like 90% of the people in New Mexico don't know that pedestrians have the right of way.
Bottom line: good Mexican food, nice place to visit once and a while, wouldn't ever want to live there. |

Albuquerque is known as the city of lights and they have a big balloon festival there every year. I have relatives that live there. |

That was where they shot "Highschool Musical." Nice mountain background scenery. I've never been there, though. |

it's a desert city that's very old. I've driven through it a few times but only stopped to eat, never actually stayed there.
Get more information about it here;

Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico with a population of slightly more than one million people. The general climate is hot and dry in the summer, with highs easily reaching 105. Winters can be cold, and snow isn't completely unheard of. It is located in the south central part of the state. As far as economy or reputation, I haven't heard very much. |
