this resort is more fun to visit than stay at. Unlike most of the deluxe resorts, they only have one pool and it is too small for it's occupancy. You can look at the savannah through the lobby and even use night goggles, and eat at Boma, the fantastic buffet they have. They also have the smallest rooms of all the deluxe resorts and their decor is perfect for africa but I was creeped out by it and my children didn't care for it. Also take into consideration that when you pick a resort here, the workers tend to follow the resort's theme. You have a lot of foreigners work here and some of them speak broken English and others aren't culturally as polite or helpful as some americans wish to have on vacation. Other resorts follow suite, as well. Grand floridian is an older staff, and very high class, yet they expect a standard of manners, contemporary is all business like people that work there, polynesian is hawaiians, and so on and so forth. The nicest staff we found was at Grand Floridian and at New Orleans French Quarter. You pick an entire place to reside when you pick a room, in deluxe at disney, not just a bed and a pool. So, choose according to what you like in these sorts of things.
I agree though, at first sight, this was our first choice. Now, I would pick any other deluxe over this resort. |

IT WAS AWESOME! It was a little expensive, but you are in disney world and right by all the theme parks! |

I stayed there two years ago. It was very nice. We opted for the Savannah view and it was beautiful to watch the animals every morning. If I remember correctly the pool was pretty big. The only thing I did not like about it is that there was no character dining at this Disney resort, at least not at that time. |

I did not enjoy my stay there. I have stayed at all of the disney resorts and it is one of my least favorites. The rooms are smaller than any other disney hotel. The food is not as good and the pool is not very nice in comparison to the other hotels. That resort is also under construction for the next copule of months while the build the vacation villas so you view of the animals is blocked in some rooms. We actually had to move our room. I would recomend the Beach Club or Wilderness Lodge. |

i never stayed there but i remember doing a tour of it the last time i went, which was a few years ago. it was really cool looking, pretty authentic and really clean (just like every disney resort is) and there were animals right outside the resort so it made you feel like you were in africa. |

I didn't but I know someone who did. It is spectacular. You look out the window and see all these wild animals roaming around. It's one of the better hotels so it's great and has lots of good service and pools etc., but it's expensive. Don't get me wrong I love Disney, ( its my favorite place in the world practically!) but it can be very pricey. So it's really fun, but not fun for your wallet. |

All in all it was nice. I was a little surprised about how small the rooms were though (especially for the the price they charged for an "upgrade".)
The restaurants were good but very expensive. Breakfast was at least $20 per person.
Everything seemed very clean and well kept.
The transportation around Disney World from the hotel is nice so you don't need a car at all while you're there. |
