Yes. I love flying. The ATL airport is the coolest I could spend days in there and never get bored. There are so many different types of people. Its so exciting |

I don't know about Awesome, but it is definitely big. I like how the signs measure your distance from the terminals in Miles. |

I am born and raised here in the ATL. I have picked up and dropped off many folks at the airport. When we lived in Forest Park (pre-911) we used to take our kids to ride the people mover and watch the planes. It was cheap entertainment. I have only flown once. I went to Las Vegas with a stop in New Orleans. I was terribly disappointed with both airports. I thought that most were like Harstfield. |

I fly out of it alot, since I live in Atlanta. It's true you can get lost if you aren't paying attention to the signs, unless you fly in & out of it alot, then you learn pretty easily your way around it. |

I'm glad you like our airport! Trust me, it's not that awesome to those of us who live here, especially when flights start getting delayed early in the morning. The airport is very busy, very tightly scheduled, so once delays start, they cannot get caught up till very late that night. The consequence is that departure gates get changed, sometimes several times with very little time to get from one gate to the next.
Here's a real example from my flight last Sunday (2/17) morning. My flight was originally scheduled to depart at 9:40 AM from gate C22. I thought to myself, "For once, I don't have to go all the way to the end of the concourse (gate 38) to get my plane." I was very happy till they delayed our flight till 10:01 and changed the gate to C32. "Oh well" I thought, "at least it's the same concourse." We waited at C32 for a few minutes, then were told that our gate was changed to D37. For those of you who are familiar with Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, you know that this means walking from the end of concourse C to the middle, taking the escalator down to the people mover train, getting off at concourse D, taking the escalator up to the concourse, and walking all the way to the end. The worst thing was that they didn't tell us the flight was delayed again, so everyone on the flight was running like crazy people through the airport because we only had 15 minutes before our 10:01 scheduled departure. It was only when we got to D37 that we found out we had been delayed till 10:40. The next time we looked at the sign above the gate, another delay had been posted; the new departure was 11:40. Then they came over the loudspeaker and announced another gate change to D27 and that our flight was leaving at 11:10. We had plenty of time, so we all trooped back down the concourse to the new gate, only to find that there are like 20 chairs and three full flights leaving from that gate at about the same time. In other words, no place to sit and wait. We did finally leave from that gate about 11:25.
The other thing I don't like about our airport is when I come back from a trip abroad. I think it is messed up compared to Newark. In Atlanta, you go through immigration, then you get your luggage and go through customs. That's all pretty much the same as anywhere else. The major problem is that after you pass through customs, you have to stand in line to turn your luggage back in, stand in line to go back through airport security, take the people mover train to the main baggage claim area, and get your luggage again. It generally takes at least two hours from the time you get off the plane till you get in your ground transportation in Atlanta. It's ridiculous! |

Yes. I have been there. It is a nice airport, but not the best airport. The food and everything else is expensive. If you fly Delta or US Airways, expect for the flight back home to be delayed. I have never flew from Atlanta back home and the flight was on time! |
