My personal preference is Midway because it is smaller and easier to get around. I've flown out of O'Hare a few times and I feel like I have to walk 20 miles to get to my gate sometimes! LOL As far as on time flights, when I fly out of Midway I've flown Southwest & Frontier. I've had some delays w/Southwest but not Frontier. When I've flown out of O'Hare, I've flown American & United and had delays both times. The restaurants are pretty standard airport staples in both locations. I'm not sure what you mean by scenery because there really isn't anything to look at other than the tarmac.

The facilities at O'Hare Intl. are much better. There have been reports thet the runway at Midway is unsafe because it is too short. Your choice of airline will also determine which airport you will arrive at or depart from. Most fly to one or the other but not both.

There is no O'Hara Airport, even if our mayor pronounces it that way. O'Hare and Midway are fine. Choose the airport by flight schedules and prices. If it doesn't matter, shop for your hotel room first, then use the hotel shuttle from whichever airport. Just don't try to ride the mass transit with all your damn luggage during rush hour.

ok everytime i fly into ohare they are always late and they arent very helpful there at all...and if you have a short time between flights good luck cuz you may be running to the other side of the terminal. they have ok resturants there. midway is much better!

Depends on if you need to go into the city or the suburbs... Midway for the city, O'Hare for the burbs. O'Hare is cleaner I think, but personally I like the food selection at Midway better. O'Hare is more interesting-looking though.

Mrkvica20
It's O'Hare, lol but it's better then Midway. I'm not exactly sure why i like it better, but it seems cleaner, and more organized.

poroxx
Ohare is busier..which makes for higher odds that your flight will get delayed.

Hi it depends on how quick you want to get into the city nothing more! I live in Dallas now and I would fly into Love Field any day instead of DFW. “Same thing in Chicago” when I visit. For I am not going to Chicago to see the Air Port but, to see Chicago and my peep's and to get in with as less pain as possible! Mid Way is the way to go. Kinda like no one needs to pay $40,000.00 for transportation but some people do,

O'hare international is bigger than Chciago(Midway). O'hare carries United, American, and many other cheap airlines, plus they have planes that go to almost every country. It has a nice food court with everything, neat bathrooms, drinking fountains, Plus you can take the Blue Line straight to down town from O'hare.

Midway has Southwest airlines, and a nice food court but nothing else really.

Moe
Midway would be better, its smaller not as many people going through the airport. Southwest Flys out of there.
Ohare, is the Hub and whatever is happening as far as weather across the nation, will effect it , but not Midway. Too many delays at OH. My son is a flight attendent for Southwest, flys out of Midway, lives in Chicago and he says Midway is way better than OH. He should know as he is in the industry.

Karen
I would choose Midway over O'Hare any day. It is smaller and easier to use. Part of the reason is because I fly Southwest a lot. Also, O'Hare has much much more cancellations than Midway. It is closer to the city as well.

Depends on where you're going (or coming from). Midway is the original airport in Chicago & is much smaller (and older). However, it is the airport that Southwest flies into, so that keeps the fares for all the other carriers that use that facility more reasonable (for example an American flight from Dallas to Midway can be $300 - $400 cheaper if you fly into Midway than O'Hare). Also, if you're going to be staying downtown, it's much closer than O'Hare.

OTOH, if you plan on flying overseas, or on a long-haul domestic flight, you probably will have to use O'Hare. Also if you're ultimate destination is in the northwest suburbs, like Schaumberg, you definitely want to fly into O'Hare. Anx lastly, if food & shopping options at the airport are important, you definitely will choose O'Hare.

Nancy P
It's not really a matter of BETTER . You're sort of comparing apples and oranges.

There are only a few airlines that fly out of Midway - most fly out of O'Hare. Flights (i.e. Southwest) out of Midway can often be cheaper.

If you take into consideration the cost of GETTING TO the airport from where you're located, that adds to the cost (of a taxi)... as will the cost of parking (if you drive). If you're getting dropped off by friend/family, check a number of airlines.

I live on the northside of chicago. I flew via SW out of Midway cuz I thought it'd be cheaper ( I took a taxi), Taxi was expensive; cost variation was probably $10 cheaper to Midway. But hassle was NOT worth it.

Ohare is way better!!

I like O'Hara better
