Houston, Texas - an extremely boring town to live? |
I live here for 15 years and I still don't know how come I survive this long. This place is extremely boring, the city is flat and plain, meeting people are very difficult and many of them don't have any idea how to socialize and enjoy each other's company. Sure the cost of living is cheap and food are abundant but it gets old quick. Anyone share the same feeling? |

Are you kidding? There are a ton of things to do here. Can I guess that your living here 15 years is most of your life?
So what if the city is flat? Most coastal cities are flat. Ever been to New Orleans? Corpus Christi? Miami? How are we "plain?" We are far from that.
Abundant food and a lower cost of living gets old? Okay, then! Feel free to starve yourself and spend more. Maybe it'll change your perspective.
As far as I know, the only person who shares your feeling is Mizzzzzhollywood, who, I can't understand for the life of me, why she stays here if she hates it so much. |

Why not leave houston then and go somewhere else... im from houston and i think its the best place to live. its not busy and it doesnt have as many rude people as california and new york does ........ when i was 8 i used to think like u but now i can never picture myself living anywhere else but texas ......houston is home to me and if u dont like it then just leave and go to california or new york ... somewhere that might please u or make u happier than where u live now , |

No, Houston is where I'm from so I will never feel the same way that you do it is not boring to me it is my favorite place to be at even though I am in California I visit every year that is how much I love Houston and if you don't like it then just leave as simple as that. |

If you are bored living in Houston, then you will be bored wherever you live. All large cities have pretty much the same amenities, entertainment, restaurants, and types of people. I suspect you are just a negative person who thinks the grass is always greener on the other side. |

I have friends, so no, I don't find it boring at all! And what do you mean you can't meet people?? Between college, my job, and church, I am running into people and making new aquaintances ALL the time. Once, my whole science class went to see a movie together, so it's not like everybody here is antisocial, or anything. Maybe you just need to step into the adult world and make some interactions. |

Nope, maybe it's not Houston. Maybe it's you. Try to socialize more. |

"I live here for 15 years"...... this means you are probably 15, maybe 16. Never mind, nuff said.
If you dislike someplace as much as someone in here do then you should leave. Houston is not New York or California and does not want to be. It is a unique city with a personality of it's own. No matter what you think. |

No. I LOVE houston! I have fun all of the time. I go out a lot with my friends, hitting up Midtown, Rice Village, and the bars downtown. I've made some pretty amazing friends out of the people I've met going out. Not to mention if I want to do something that doesn't involve clubs or bars, there are plenty of other things to do. Like all the fun shows at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in the summer, of the great Theater District? Or how about enjoying the beautiful Hermann Park? And as a health care professional, Houston's AMAZING Medical Center is a joy to work in. And really, that's only a fraction of what Houston has to offer.
So why, with all of that, would I want to live anywhere else? |

you have to have a sence of humor when living in Houston there are plenty of things to do here |

Houston isn't boring, you just need to know where to go. The problem with Houston is things are spread out and you need to do some research before you go out (you can't just walk around looking for cool places to hang out). But I assure you if you do some research, you'll find anything you can find anywhere else. |

Although it seems like thats an extremly nice place to live. |

I love Houston, but I know what you are talking about. There is no night life or even city life mainly because it is not a tourist city. Houston is more about business than anything else. Because of this, no small bands come to Houston as they do in New York, Portland, or Chicago... :-(
The only "entertaining" things Houston has is art, museums, and plays... |

It is boring. I agree. And there's nothing to look at. It's not touristy. They wanna be like places like NYC and California, but it doesn't work. If it wasn't for places like that, they wouldn't have all the names of places here (like the so-called "bay area" which is a copycat of San Francisco's bay area name). And they wouldn't have all the ideas that they have. |
