houston is more diverse for sure. a bit more fun too. i'd go with houston. HOWEVER, if you are planning a vacation, go to austin and/or san antonio. they're about 75 miles apart. excellent vacation, great sights and tons of fun activities. |

Houston, for sure! Houston has lots of night clubs, different districts...depending on your tastes (richmond, montrose, clear lake) and less than an hour from Galveston. It has beautiful and historic neighborhoods (Memorial, River Oaks, West University) and world class shopping (Rice Village, The Galleria, Highland Village). The largest concentration of medical facilities in the world (The Texas Medical Center) and one of the world's largest seaports...lots of jobs! |

Houston by far. I've lived here for 30 years. I like to visit Dallas, but always feel better once I've come home.
Yes we have humidity, and mosquitos... traffic in Dallas is bad, too, you know. But so what? I find Dallas to be snooty, and the people's attitude of, "But this is Dallas" to be a little off-putting. Maybe the younger set who still live with their folks might prefer Dallas, but Houston is a better place to raise a family. Note that I say Dallas, and do not include Fort Worth. Fort Worth is a nice area, with lots of friendly people, far more so than Dallas. |

I'm a native Houstonian. I love the city, hate the traffic and humidity. The people here are friendly in an elevator and we say thank you. We ask how are you and smile. We must be this happy for a reason. I think it's a laid back place to live, easy to get to the Gulf, lots of water, horses, and space outside the town. You have your young workaholics and your retired mall walkers. It's an incredibly diverse city with welcoming venues for everyone from artsy fartsies to homebodies. I enjoy the sense of anonymity you can have in a place this size. Whether you dress up dress down, or walk around in your own funky designs, you fit in. Plus, besides a few cold snaps, you can wear your shorts, tee shirts and flip flops every month of the year. Best of all, you'll never be bored. |

Houston...Dallas is too far inland and for some reason has some really idiotic ugly guys... |

I have to chime in HOUSTON and agree with JRBaytown who named all the places I'd have recommended.
HOUSTON is better 'coz of what the city offers in terms of everything. Nightlife, food, shopping, affordable housing, recreational facility, colleges, medical facility, proximity to beaches of Galveston / Gulf of Mexico/Corpus Christi, NASA and a very entrepreneurial population.
HOUSTON is an ultra modern & liberal city. It's a resilient city that has gone through its ups and downs. The city has pride, spirit and money. It has major sports franchises like the Texans, Rockets & Astros.
If Sam Houston had his way, it would have been the capital of Texas.
My first vote to HOUSTON. Second San Antonio. Third Austin. |

Fun is not in the City is in YOU
Do you mean which one has more places to visit, or more places to dance or more places to eat or more museums see?
That's why.
Fun is in YOU |

Dallas. Better weather (less humid, slightly less hot, way fewer mosquitos). Awesome diverse crowd, people from all over the country move to Dallas, and they don't all work in the Oil Industry, like in Houston. Dallas has great neighborhoods like M Streets, Uptown, Highland Park, Addison, Lakewood, Hollywood Hills. People are way cool. |
