Just one if it is a normal letter.

If it's just a letter it should be $.42 (one stamp, provided you have 42 cent stamps), but if it's anything more than 13 ounces you have to go to the post office to get it weighed.

american_beauty_love
Well, as long it's just a letter then it should only be the standard rate, 42 cents (or one stamp). If you are sending a package or something thicker than a letter, it would cost more money.

It just takes one forever stamp

one

I LOVE ROCKY!!!!!
You have to base it on the weight. a regular letter, one stamp

If it's a normal letter, you just need one.

The best place to find that answer is at usps.com. It will be based on what size envelope, the weight, and wether there are any rigid unbendable items in the envelope.

For the normal letter in an envelope the postage would be one stamp no matter where it is going in the United States.

Is it the letter "u" because those weigh more than other letters, if you want to send the letter "i" it is probably the cheapest letter to send. Once you have decided which letter it is you really want to send you have to wrap in plain brown non-descript paper and take it to the post office. Once there they should weigh your package for you, the nice man at the counter will tell you how much it will cost to send it to your destination. You can decide to mail it fast or slow, generally slower is cheaper. If your "letter" will fit inside a standard #10 envelope and lay flat and not buldge out, then it will simply cost you $0.42. If you happen to have purchased a forever stamp, you could use that, otherwise you will have to purchase a new stamp, if you happen to have other denominations of stamps, you will simply have to combine them mathematically to a value at or above $0.42. Generally you want to use your larger denomination stamps first, so as not to waste too much "stamp" value on one simple letter. (if you had 38 $0.01 stamps and 1 $0.23 stamp and you filled the letter with all your 1 cent stamps first you would waste 19 cents, however if you take my advice, you would waste none.) Once you have deteremined which avenue you want to persue with regards to the stamp value, you can tabulate the total of stamps required to put on the envelope and voila you now have your answer.

If it is a normal size and weight envelop then it only costs one regular stamp.

cugal
One stamp if it's just a normal size letter. If it is larger than a letter, or heavier than a couple sheets of paper, you will need more depending on the weight.

Just one if its a standard letter

lilBit
It just depends on how much the letter weighs. If it's just a couple page letter, then it will only need one stamp. And you're not a idiot for not knowing that. That other person was just rude.

Vin
it takes the same amount of stamp as it would take if sent from NJ to WI, i'm glad you find this helpful xD

dont put stamps, just remember to send $1 inside the envelope. the mailman will find it.
