Are you thinking of coming to school here or just to live? For school I would definately recommend it (although one thing to keep in mind is the main draw to Boston universities IS Boston. The campuses as much smaller than in the midwest). I spend a summer at MSU, and while I totally adored that summer, it was night and day in terms of overall campus life. I think Boston prepares you better for real life in many ways. It is a lovely town with tons to do and I think you would have a blast. I did! I came here to go to college and never left!
BUT, as has been wisely pointed out, if you are just coming to live, it is a VERY expensive city that is hard to afford even with a good job. So keep that in mind. Even the best city is no fun if you can't afford to live in anyplace decent, or afford to go out and enjoy what the city has to offer. I don't know your situation, but you do, so hope you will consider what makes sense for you! |

For someone that is young like yourself, Boston has to be one of the greatest cities to live in. You can't be bored there, something is always going on. Its true that there isn't a ton of space, and the job market isn't as great as a lot would like, but there are worse cities! There is also a lot of dining and shows that go on. Hahah, I guess there's something for everyone here! |

Boston is an amazing place to live. Its a big, modern city like New York but not as rude. I've lived there before, but I moved to Atlanta. I wish I hadn't, and I'm trying to move back. Boston is a great city!! |

I've lived in Boston for about 4 years and I absolutely love it here. (I moved here immediately after graduating college). It's a very vibrant city and so many college students (and obviously lots of colleges and universities). And coming from Wisconsin the winters probably won't seem so bad, haha. I love the weather here though. The only thing that probably WILL be a shock, unfortunately, is the cost of living. It's pretty expensive. It wasn't so bad for me since I grew up in Washington DC which is at least as expensive but it's pretty expensive here. Definitely worth it in my opinion though. I love Boston! |

I moved out here a little less than a year ago, and I loved it. It's a very young, hip city, as one of the main draws here are all the colleges. The people are very well-educated. It is a wonderful mix of history and yet is still urban and active. It's outrageously expensive, but I know I also came from a place that was very cheap.
In my opinion you'd probably love it, but without knowing you I can't guarantee it. If you can, please come visit. Spend at least 4-5 days, and walk around a lot. Look at the newspapers and craigslist for an idea of how much housing costs. It wouldn't hurt to explore some places to work then either, because you won't survive long out here without a job! |

Boston is great, if you move here, you wll be making a great decision. But please, come here if you have something going on... school, a job, or something that can help you get a descent income.
Don't come here thinking things will be easy... It's expensive and the East Coast can be tough if you have no reliable source of income. |

Well you should visit first and see. I'm sure most people here like it. I love it. After all, if you don't like it, you could always move! LOL. . .But seriously, try it for yourself. You have to like the feel of a big city. You're 19, so you're in a great age range to come to a city like Boston, I think you would like it. |

I lived in Boston for two years and then left only because it was ridiculously expensive. I loved it and was really upset that I couldn't stay. It's a beautiful city and there's always something to do.
I'm down in NC now, about 45 minutes from Charlotte, and it's nice, but I still would prefer to be in Boston!! |

I moved to New England from Milwaukee, WI 2 years ago. I currently live an hour away from Boston. The people in Boston may be nicer than those in New York, but they are NOWHERE near as nice as the people from Wisconsin. Also, Boston is extremely expensive. Homes are more than double the price and typically smaller. Like someone wrote earlier...definitely visit first. |

boston is a great city. its a bit smaller than a lot of other cities, which makes it even better. there are many beautiful parts and it contains a great, positive atmosphere. |

I live in Los Angeles now but I was born and raised in and around Boston. I love the city, but I really don't like the surrounding areas. I guess it depends on where you are planning on living. The cost of living is pretty high there (not nearly as high as LA though)... There is a lot to see and do there and it is very historical and for me it is a great place to go back and visit my family and everything, but I wouldn't want to move back there, but thats just my opinion because I spent so many years there... If you are going to college it is a great place to be, there are some amazing schools in the area and the way of life there is pretty relaxed. |
