How do you find celebs in Hollywood?

I'm going to Hollywood in a couple of weeks and I really want to see some celebrities. Any advice on how to find them? Too bad I can't go to clubs there :p

Oh, so much to learn...

I'm not a celebrity worshipper. I don't really get why people want to come out to "Hollywood" and see the "stars". For one, they lead very insulated lives. They stay inside their large mansions/estates, or their Malibu beach homes, or whatever. And when they do come out, they come out late when working people are already asleep. So, I don't know where the myth comes from that celebs are out on display for all to see. It's my understanding that the papparazzi have to work pretty hard just to get a photo, and they are paid to stand around for hours until one shows up at the location they've staked out. Way too much work for me.

With that being said, if you are really into the celebrity hunting, you can try some known hangouts of celebs. Pink's hot dogs, for example, near CBS has seen its share of celebs. Canter's Deli, also near CBS and Farmer's Market, is another place to eat and maybe get lucky.

The thing is that celebs don't LIVE in Hollywood. And they don't always work there. Hollywood is really more of an idea than a place. Sure, there is a section of LA called Hollywood, but the movie studios moved out of there decades ago. They are spread out in Burbank, Culver City, Studio City, and Glendale. And the celebs live all over SoCal, from Newport Beach to Calabasas. So spotting one makes looking for a needle in a haystack seem easy.

Your best bet is to check out www.eidc.com to check out the daily shoot sheet, to see what's filming on location in LA on a particular day. No guarantee you will see stars, since it could just be a low-budget film. But you never know.

Good luck, and have fun while visiting.

Ask anyone you meet on the street: "Are you a celebrity?" Chances are they'll say, "Why yes! I was 'jogger #2' in that episode of CSI, you know when they panned across the screen and there was that guy in the blue suit? That was me! No....I haven't gotten my SAG card yet....."

Why would you want to LOL

My last two vacations have been in Hollywood, I haven't met any 'stars', seen any while shopping, or anything else. I have a lot of friends in Hollywood who have lived there all their lives, and they don't see them all that often too, unless you know there is a premier or something happening, the chances are they are either filming, out of the country or hiding behind high fences!

Go to a television show taping. You have to get tickets ahead of time, but the few times I went when I lived down there, we got to meet the cast and it was a lot of fun.

I think people that are out of towers have a huge misconception of hollywood. Its not the glamourous place it was back in the hay days of early film making. Celebs don't hang out there unless a movie premire at Mann's Chinese Theatre or the Oscar's at the Kodak theatre. Celebs are more likely to hang out at the more exclusive parts of LA such as rodeo drive, or some happenin' club or restraunt. Celebs are usually incongnito or undercover anyway.

You can see some shopping on Rodeo Drive and the Grove. Then there are all they places like Kitson and the Ivy. Hope that helps a little.

Believe it or not, there is an entire website devoted to seeing stars in Hollywood. It's http://www.seeing-stars.com

Among other things, it has a great calendar of upcoming events where stars will appear in person ( http://www.seeing-stars.com/Calendar ) such as Walk of Fame ceremonies and movie premieres. Plus, it lists restaurants owned by stars, hotels where they stay, places where they shop, etc.

The redwood are so beautiful go there that tree are more intersting. The Celbs are not in hollywood. They are living in rich areas like Bev. hills and Malibu.

starrynight
they shop up and down robertson blvd in beverly hills.

sometimes they are also at The Grove, which is a shopping mall.

I not into this much, but in addition to the above. The Gelson's grocery store on Sunset and the Malibu post office have good reputations for this.

My real advice is just go have fun at something you like doing, rather than plan a trip around a 1% chance of getting a 10 second view of a "B" list actor.
