&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&...
Shast, Thats averageing 72 miles per hour. A
little quick I think. A 50 to 60 mgh average is more realistic. |

From San Francisco to New York, you'll have to drive the entire length of Interstate 80 (via Reno, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh).
You'll spend about 43 hours on the road, so it should take several days at least...since you'll have to take frequent breaks for gas/food, as well as spend part of the day in motels for sleep. |

I would safely say it would be about a 3-4 day trip for you depending on how long you can handle driving.. I drove from ny to arkansas in a little less than 24hrs.. |

This is a journey of approximately 3000 miles.
If you are doing this with kids, it may seem almost double that distance.
First thing to do, is visit your AAA office, and get a TripKit. This will give you the route, and any construction going on, across the country.
Instead of just driving miles after miles, make this a vacation trip.
Drive for fairly short distances, between towns of cities. Take as long as you can. Drive mostly during the day, avoid nighttime driving. Stop at motels, about dinner time, relax, use the pool, and just rest up. Perhaps see some sights around that town.
If you plan this right, with nice stops along the way, it will be trip to remember, and you will see a great deal of the country.
If you try to do it in as short a time as you can. You will also remember it, but for different reasons entirely.
So take your time, get out the videocam and camera, look up historic sites, and kick back and enjoy it.
Oh By the way, much more relaxing, if you can switch drivers along the route.
Driving the Interstates are great, and you cover distance easily and fast. But it's very, very boring.
So take it easy, and enjoy it. Good luck. |

It depends on if you are driving solo or with help. It took me 4 days to go from NY to Montana.I made a trip to San Diego from MOntana and it took me about 24 hours to do that..So I would say about 5 days! Best of luck. I suggest you have a cooler packed with drinks and sanwhich makings, have your route mapquested and carry a cell phone for emergencies. Let people know on both ends when you are leaving and planning on arriving.Have your car checked up before you go anywheres. |

I'd just fly. I once drove from Connecticut to Miami and was completely wiped out. I'll never do that again. Assuming you drive 15-16 hours a day, I'd say 3-4 days. |

If you drive straight it will probably take you 3-4 days. If you are going to stop and take your time I'd plan on a week.
My advice would be to take 80 all the across and spend some time in Denver. |

With the right Amphetamines, 3 days max. |

dont drive through the desert, it will peel the paint off your car.
I80 or I70 is the easiest way cross country, but if the point is the experience, they take 10 days and just drive and go to every spot you have ever wanted to visit along the way |

Last year I drove I-80 from start to finish- Teaneck, NJ (just outside NYC) to the BAy Bridge in 3 days. I even played golf each of the first two days. This is not normal- I drove anywhere from 13-18 hours each day. The first day I drove from NJ to Davenport, Iowa. The second day I drove from there to Laramie, Wyoming. The third day I drove from there to Santa Rosa, CA (an hour north of SF). I might do it again this summer and try to do it in just over 2 days. On the way home last summer I took my time, saw the sights, and it took about a week. |
