I was born and raised in the Kansas City area and now live in Northern California. I would love to move home but due to husbands job am stuck here for awhile. In Kansas City the grass is literally greener the sky is bluer the air is cleaner and the people are friendlier. The cost of living is reasonable, in most areas you are safe on the street and most of your neighbors speak English. You do not have to spend half a million dollars to buy a middle class house and your yard will be larger then your walk in closet. There are not stoplights on the on ramps and it is still faster to drive to work then get in gridlock. or walk because of traffic Your children will not be kept from recess because of bad air days and you WIll know the seasons are changing, day after day of smoggy sunshine gets really boring. In Kansas City when it rainy it really rains, it thunders its cleansing and fresh. Here the ground gets wet sometimes for days at a time but they have no idea what a true thunderstorm is. In Kansas City there are pleanty of weirdos spouting thier wierd ideas, however in CA it is politically incorrect to notice they are wierdos. We are soo cool here. yeah..........
Many people from the coasts will consider you a hick. They have seen Wizard of Oz too many times. However since moving to CA I have met more card carrying rednecks then my whole 40+ years in the Midwest. Frankly most of CA looks like Topeka, Kansas with palm trees and vineyards. Drive around the plaza in Kansas City take a second look at the Ozarks. Make a night of it on Vine Street or Westport In Kansas City you know where not to go after dark. In most cities I have seen in CA the :bad areas" are spotty and everywhere. .
The beach is a great vacation spot but for a home give me the Chiefs, the art institute, Mission Hills, Crown Center any day...wish I could go home!!!!
What was your question again??

I grew up in KC, KS. I loved it. My family is still there, 1/2 in the KS side and 1/2 on the MO side.

Drove there once years ago to attend a business meeting..missed my exit off I-70, took the next one thinking I could get right back on and ended up in a creepy dead-end train yard. Took me forever to find my way back. Very nice people when I finally found civilization again. Never been back, but going in July for a friend's birthday bash.

Me!!! I have lived in FL, and OH. Yet, Kansas City is still my favorite place. Everyone here is just so nice and everything here is so nice and we have great restraunts and places to shop. I stayed at our house in South Carolina for like 4 months with some family and I would come home like every other weekend just because I missed Kansas City and everything about it. My family and I travel all the time and I still haven't found any place like Kansas City. It has been rated one of the best places to raise a family. You just have to stay out of downtown and you are fine. We have one of the best Childrens Hospitals in the nation. (I can speak for that... had many surgeries there). I am only 15 and I have lived in 3 states (kansas city for 7 years), travel all the time and I still love Kansas City more than any other place.
I used to live in Lee's Summit and then we moved to Brookside.
Do you live here?
