How many times does Tower of Terror fall? |
You know, that ride at Disney world where you sit in an elevator and it drops?
Well my question is, how many times does it drop? |

There really is technically no answer to this question, as the Walt Disney World version of the Tower of Terror features random drop profiles. Let me break it down for you and tell you how it all works from a "normal person" standpoint:
Originally, the ride just featured one drop. It went through the whole ride as usual, but when the elevator locked in place in the drop shaft, all it did was drop once. That was in 1994. Since then, Imagineers that created the attraction thought they should at least make the ride more thrilling, instead of just one drop. So they kept adding on different version of the ride, adding on to the drops and the different ways the elevator goes up and down the drop shaft.
In 2002, the 4th version of the ride debuted. This time, the new drop sequence places the computers in control of the ride experience, making each ride sequence random. So that means their could be anywhere from 4 drops to 7 drops, all ranging in size and the length of the drops. Also, different show scenes are introduced in each random sequence. And it may seem like a gimmick, but it's true...not even the cast members that oversee the attraction don't know how the elevators are going to travel once they are in the drop shaft. It's a very complex computer system that took months to recreate.
Hope that helped! :) |

It doesn't have a "set" number; they've changed it so that it drops differently for different riders |

it now drop 4 to 6 times. It is different everytime you ride it. A computor decides how many drops each time. I've have been there at least 16 times. It is one of our favorite rides. Have fun!! |

when it first opened in 1994 it only dropped once, then it becaume known as tower of terror double drop, and now it is hooked to a computer and it is very random. it never just drops once or twice. its always at least three times. and it doesn't always go up to the very top more than once. but sometimes it goes all the way up four times. it is completely random, i have gone on it once and it will drop twice and go all the way up then drop you twice from mid way and then its done, and i can then go right back on when there is no line and it will drop once from the mid way point, once from the very top, twice more from mid way and then again from the very top. you never know what wil happen. |

The Tower of Terror drops are random. You drop, the ride throws you back up high, then you drop again. I have been dropped twice, and as many as 4 times. It just depends on what the computer decides to do.
If you want more info, check out the disboards. The disboards is a free website that is all about going to Disney. You can get advice on rides, resort reviews, restaurant reviews, tips and tricks from people who go all the time, and much more. I put the link below.
Hope this helps! |

That is one of the great unknowns, it is computer controlled and changes with each ride. The number of drop, rate of drops and speed of lifts change each time. |

It's determined by a computer that randomly spits out numbers. You never know. |

Yes it varies. The first time i went, it was scary but it was not unbearable. The second time i went on it it WAS unbearable and i was trembling sooo bad, i guess it had dropped up a farther length than before. I would prefer shorter drops. They should make one side that has the fewer but longer drops and the other side with more but shorter drops. That way i'd always go on it without worrying. |

It drops a random amount of times. It adds an element of surprise everytime you go on. |

Guess who

it use to drop only once, ( the first time i went on it) then two years later, it dropped three times, .. but now.. i think that it changes, depending on some strange criteria, and that criteria is not known to other, LOL so good luck with it |

Disney changed it and now it's random. You'll never know how many times it will drop. Of course, there has to be a maximum. My experience, it dropped 5 times before I basically disconected myself from reality and waited for it to be over. |

flip flop freak :)

its so cool cuz now, it drops at random times for diffrent people..last time i went, about 4..it was so breathtaking..it ROCKED! |

This question really has no answer. The drops are at random generated by a computer. |

about 2-5 times and sometimes it doesn't drop all the way
its really fun and totally worth the wait but its not that big of a line most of the time but anyway it doesn't hav a set number of time it usually ranges from about 3-5 drops and there are falls where it doesn't go all the way. its really safe and most of the time its dark so it doesn't get really scary where like in outdoor rollercoasters you see whats gonna happen next or maybe that does make it scary and in the middle theres a little show and it has a really great story about the hollywood hotel with it so i think you would really enjoy it. |

From my experience, they run the same profile all day, and change the profile each day. I've heard there are a couple dozen different profiles. It's scary because you don't know when or how far you'll drop. It's usually about three. It's definitely the scariest ride and Disneyworld, especially since they got rid of Alien Encounter. |
