Ok. My LAST trip to Disney World was in December last year. I stayed at my sister's time share, and my niece rented a car. So all I paid for was my food, park admission and souveniers.
In September, I went and stayed on Disney property, at All-Star Movies Resort. I also had the Disney Dining plan added on for free. (it is a special that Disney has had the last couple of years) With the dining plan, I had more to spend for souveniers. I ended spending just under $500 per person for hotel & admission tickets, about $150 each for airfare (from Rhode Island) and then I spend about $600 mostly on t-shirts and pins, plus maybe another $30 for extra snacks, etc.
I love every trip to Disney World. Even when I go during hurricane season!
PS I am a 44 year old female, and I go with my 59 year old sister, her 30 year old daughter and my 25 year old son! |

Our last trip was August of 2006. We took 3 adults and 2 kids. We stayed concierge level at the Beach Club for 2 nights and the Polynesian for 2 nights. We ate out one night in Epcot and went to the luau at the Poly. Otherwise we snacked on stuff we had brought or something we could share inside the parks, or most often, what was provided in the concierge lounge. We were able to take advantage of Florida resident discounts on everything except my sister's park tickets. Total, rooms, tickets and all, we spent around $4,500.
As far as was it worth the money? Yes. It was the best vacation my sister and I have ever had. She really got to bond with her nieces, and my husband is considering inviting her again. We still talk about all of the fun we had. It really is the happiest place on earth. We are already planning the next trip. |

My husband and I spent approximately $1800 for our last vacation. This total does include flights, but does not include our hotel stay. We have a timeshare in Kissimmee, so our stay was already paid for.
We flew from SLC, Utah and stayed for 8 days and 7 nights. We spent 2 days at the Disney theme parks and got a discount on those tickets through AAA. We did have a rental car through Avis and spent a few days at the beach and other nearby attractions.
We had a blast on our trip! It was in early December of 2006 and we got to enjoy the holiday festivities and special parades, in addition to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

You can spend anywhere from $1000 to well over $20,000 on a trip, depending on what you do. The resorts range in price from Under $100 a night to well over $300 a night (for standard rooms) You also have tickets, which start at around $70 a day, for a base pass, then you can add on hopping, waterparks, extra days, etc. Of course you have the food, which is a minimum of about $10 at Disney and go well over $100, depending on where you eat and what you order. Disney also has their different plans you can do, the basic dining plan, the premium and then the platinum plan. The base dining is just your meals (a snack, counter-service and table-service for each day) then the plans go up to including every meal, shows, tours, etc. And of course, there are the souvenirs. There are some people that don't spend anything on souvenirs and some people that spend more on the souvenirs than on their entire trip.
The thing with Disney is that you can spend just about any amount of money, so just about any budget can afford Disney. It's just that the more you spend, the more you get, but that is true with most things.
As for me, I take several trips a year to Disney. I take a lot of little trips, 7 days or less throughout the year. I make a few visits to the area for a few days on business and in some cases go there for a few nights before a cruise. But I also take one or two trips, or so, a year that are my main trips to Disney. These are usually anywhere from 10 to 14 nights, maybe a little longer, but never less. Generally if it is longer I take a cruise afterwards or go to the beach or something. I'm from Connecticut, but don't always go from Connecticut to Orlando, depending on where I am for business at the time.
For me, my trips always range in price. Everything from a one night stay at a value (during another vacation) to my longer vacation each year. I've stayed at every resort for at least one night over the years, but stay in the deluxe resorts or villa resorts unless a new hotel has opened (I just like to see what they are all like) I never go unless I have, at the very least, the dining plan and usually do premium or platinum depending on how long my trip will be and of course I always have passes. So, my trips really range a lot in price. To answer your question though, my very last trip, which was one of my shorter trips, priced out like this. I went from December 23 through December 28. I did the platinum plan with a premium pass at Grand Floridian in a royal palm club room for around $8000 for everything, including souvenirs. The platinum plan includes a lot of extras, so I definitely feel it is worth the extra money, but only go on that when I have the extra time for tours and things.
Personally, I always have a blast in Disney. Of course, it is not for everyone, but my sister got me addicted to Disney and now I go all the time. I'd been there many times before, but she liked Disney a lot, so I would take her several times a year, which in turn caused me to always want to go too. I've never had a bad time in Disney (or had anything happen that was bad enough to ruin my trip) |

My last vacation to Walt Disney World was this past summer...
Cost: $9,274.48 (exact price of the vacation package)
Days: August 1, 2006 thru August 11th, 2006 - 10 nights/11 days
State: New Hampshire
Now, this vacation package was booked for only two people, my boyfriend and I. We stayed at Disney's Polynesian Resort, one of the most expensive, in a lagoon view room. This vacation package did not include our flights either. So, it cost about $4,600.00 per person for the vacation package we booked. By the way, we booked the most expensive package, the Platinum Plan. I think we probably spent $11,000.00 in total, including our flights and the money we spent while we were there.
Of course, you don't have to spend this much to vacation at Walt Disney World - we went all out. It was so worth the money, though. We had the most incredible time of our lives!
The summer before last (2005) we spent only about $8,000.00 in total for our vacation to Walt Disney World. We have another vacation booked for this summer, except for four people instead of two, and the total of our vacation package is coming to about $15,000.00 |

We stayed six days
Had a place on the resort. It was one of the theme ones (the one with piano's), had a refrigerator in the room and we had breakfast and lunch there. Ate out at night.
About 1500.00 dollars. That was with tickets and all.
But you have to remember that Disney is now charging extra for the water parks and other attractions. They do not come on the pass any longer. And, I do not believe they even offer the hopper pass any longer.
Prices go up and up and up! |

We spent about 5000.00. We came from Arkansas (the 5000.00 includes airfare for 3 about 750.00 total for air). We stayed at the Poly on a employee discount. We had breakfast in our hotel rooms (brought it from home in suitcase) and made PB and J sandwiches for lunch some days (had a grocery store deliever food). Very careful with money and still spent 5000.00. Family of 4 (one child was 1).
We went early Jan. for 8 days. |

Our last trip to Disney was in Sept. of 2005. We bought our tickets about 9 months before going because they were changing them to the magic your way tickets and we wanted to have the no expiration attached without paying extra. At that time we had a child under 3, so she was free so we spent about $600 for me, my husband, and my other daughter (3 at the time) for a 5 day hopper pass.
We went for 2 weeks, the first week at my parent's time share condo in Kissimmee FL., so all we had to pay for was food and gas. The second week we decided to stay on grounds for 5 nights at the Wilderness Lodge. Because we went in Sept, the crowds were down and it was known as their value season so we decided to stay in the Delux hotel. That week we spent about $3,000 between hotel, food, souvenires, and any other misc. |

I go to college in Miami and visited my cousin for Thanksgiving break. We went for a day with a 1 day park hopper pass. It was something around $100 and that's including food, but I don't eat much. And since I've been previous years, I didn't feel a need for souveniers. Keep in mind this was only one park. |

I would say an average of around $300 per day. We stayed for 5 days. The trip was absolutely amazing! We went last year. So it should be just about accurate! Hope this helps! |

I haven't been to Disney World for 15 years ... and even back then, I think we spent $1000 or so for two days.
However, Disneyland ... easy to drop $500-$600 a day, including park admission, food, souvenirs, lodging, rental car.
I am a much bigger fan of Southern CA than Orlando: better weather, better parks (Disneyland, CA Adventure, Universal Studios, Knott's Berry Farm, Magic Mountain, Sea World - and perhaps best of all Legoland), there is also the beach, Tijuana, the mountains, the desert, and Hollywood. No brainer for us. |

My boyfriend and I went to Disney World in August of 2004. We are both from Connecticut and this was our annual summer trip during college. We had to go during August because it was relatively cheaper, but the weather was SUPER HOT and Hurricane Charlie came through while we were there and delayed our flight home by three days. However, we still had a great time.
We flew in on Sunday and planned to stay until the following Saturday, which allowed us four full days in each Disney Park, plus one day at Sea World.
His father gave us free plane tickets, which deducted from the total cost, but now you can fly to Orlando for super cheap (about $150 or so).
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort right next to Pleasure Island and the shops there. It was very reasonable (about $90/night plus taxes and fees) and while not luxurious per se, we only used it to sleep and shower since we were at the parks ALL day, every day.
We bought four-day Park Hopper passes from Triple A, which cost significantly less than buying them through Disney. (Triple A is also the only place I found that offered a four-day pass instead of five or more days, since we only needed the four-day one, one park per day.) We also bought our Sea World tickets through them. Check the Triple A website for prices, they may have changed since 2004.
We didn't rent a car, since the hotel offered free shuttle transportation to the parks, which was super convenient - we didn't have a problem with it at all. Every day we got up and headed over to the parks when they opened so we were there to have breakfast and stayed all day until after the nightly fireworks.
The biggest expense was food. We each spent about $40-50 per day on food and water (especially water/drinks because it was so hot, but if you go in less humid months you probably won't need as much.) Each morning we spent about $5-7 on a pastry for breakfast, about $10 on lunch at a cafe/fast food place, and $20-30 on dinner. I must say that all of the food was FANTASTIC, even the fast food (chicken fingers/fries/etc), so we didn't mind spending it. We were always full and never felt like we could only order a salad to keep the price down. For what you get, I think it was worth it.
We only spent about $100 each on souvenirs. We each bought something for ourselves and small gifts for family members, but my biggest recommendation is to LOOK AROUND before you buy. A lot of the Disney items can be found in any Disney store in the US - however, there are some I have never found anywhere else. Our best "souvenirs" were LOTS of pictures! If you don't have a digital camera, BUY ONE and an extra memory card before you go! It will be worth all the money when you can look back on your memories later.
All in all, for the two of us, it cost about $2000.00 (about $1000 each) for six nights and seven days. It is absolutely do-able, even for college kids like us, paying EVERYTHING (except the flight) ourselves. We had an awesome time (he even proposed during the trip after the fireworks at Cinderella's castle!). We would love to go back again, but not in August, and we would probably only do Magic Kingdom and MGM, then Universal or something else since I wasn't a huge Epcot or Animal Kingdom fan. We did EVERYTHING in all the parks and definitely got our money's worth. Good luck! |
